Most recently, I recall somebody calling me a pompous as$. That's just in the previous 24 hours.

And if I were to say that I know of 30 or more stories where various people HAD used a broker, would this sway you? Personal anecdotes carry little weight. As I said, this website is designed specifically to cater to the type of individual I mentioned. I honestly don't know why you're being so defensive about it. If it doesn't matter, then it doesn't matter. Let it go. I'm not the one pushing a taboo narrative here.

Did you address this to the others? Or is it only Boris who should stop. This forum i full of non-PC dicusion, but it seems only I should be the one held to some account.

I actually asked everyone to stop as well and to focus on the story at hand. I asked you separately because, well, I think you're trying to express something that has maybe some merit to it but it's coming out a little more combative than you want. I am very familiar with this type of thing -- my ex was always one to come out swinging when he said something a little too close to the bone for people and ended up rubbing them the wrong way, and then when the other person expressed offense, he'd double down. I see you doing something very similar and I just think you have a chance to de-escalate here, so you should take it.

Since you're one of the few polite people, I'll stand down. I've made my point. It was a small inoffensive and factual point that people chose to be offended by, but I'll stand down for now.

I almost said this, but @laylalex got offended at my previous comment about this guy, so I refrained.  Thank you for picking up my slack!

It was a bit tasteless, but I am now on my second glass of wine so I am giving you a reprieve. (Not boxed wine.)

Best go back and read it again.  It was simply using British-speak to get a point across.  A former UK poster who shall not be named taught us a lot.

And since you insist on continuing, you are clearly wrong.  This site doesn’t cater to the type you mentioned.  In fact, very few here fit that description.  It matters because you are using a broad brush to inaccurately portray a broad demographic, which clearly violates the TOS.  Rather than report your erroneous and potentially hurtful post, I opted to take it up with you directly.  Surely, as the proud owner and user of a Mont Blanc, you can see this as he gentlemanly way to address your faux paus.

And on he off chance (VERY off) that your bolded words are accurate, why did you come here again?  Couldn’t score a decent lass on your own?

I reckon I am being DEFENSUVE for the few that meet your description, because your words are OFFENSIVE.  Might be cool where you come from, but we Americans left that behind over 400 years ago for a reason.

Why are you being such a cheap drunk, when your ex is funding your habit???

Well, I am NOT having boxed wine!!! That was a one off, we were all back in the Valley and that's what we had for pregaming and then for afterwards. (What a shitshow -- I won't bore everyone with the details but suffice to say that our plan to figure out what the eff was up with our friend ended up with us finding out that she thought her ex-husband had "ex-appeal" and has been boning him all summer.) When you are all in total shock there is nothing like knowing there are 4 liters of wine left in a box to drink.

ANYWAY I am not drinkng Franzia tonight but a nice brut blanc de blancs champagne. I don't go in much for the super expensive labels, but I know what I like. I prefer Taittinger and Pol Roger, and tonight it's Pol Roger. Nothing too too, you know. ;)

Barefoot.  Pontificus.  You should try some sub-$15 bottles.  You might be surprised.

Not keen on the Barefoot -- haven't had a single bottle I've liked too much. Not heard of the Pontificus but I will keep an eye out!

I'm slightly fibbing about only drinking Taittinger or Pol Roger -- tonight IS indeed Pol Roger, but more often than not it's what's on sale at the Whole Foods or the Berkeley Bowl. I am glad I was already drinking it just now because -- I am NOT kidding -- my ex just texted me to ask me for advice on women. I couldn't even reply there for a moment because like I am SO not the person to be giving advice to him in that arena! I know both the women in question and frankly one is not suitable at all and the other is a nightmare. I am considering calling him as he has asked very nicely and I am a little tipsy but I can only see about 200 kinds of crazy following.
