Let us look at the general cross-section of the Visa Journey population.

A population of mostly men in the United States (although some women, most of whom are the target foreigner), who are using the immigration process, mostly the K-9 visa, to bring women they wish to marry to the United States.

How are these men meeting these women? Are the general male population of Visa Journey well-traveled adventurers who just happen to meet their soulmate in some far flung corner of the planet? No, of course not. The majority (again, in general) of these men are meeting these women through brokers. They pay money to these sites for the privilege of clicking on somebody who seems a good fit. They eventually travel to their "fiancee's" country for perhaps a week, to meet the requirements of the visa they will be applying for. For the vast majority it's the first time they've ever been outside North America. And I haven't even gotten in to the organized travel groups yet which make their money on men traveling to other countries (usually Eastern Europe) to find a wife as a package deal.

You can get nit-picky all you like and say perhaps that's not how YOU met your husband, or that you know so-and-so and they were students abroad or whatever, but whom I speak of is a general cross-section of the membership here, and it was whom I was speaking about in my original post.

So feel offended on their behalf if you care to, but you know I'm right.

I know at least one male here who is a very well traveled adventurer that met his foreign bride in some far far away part of the world

As far as meeting a spouse on the internet. very common today and it really makes sense. Where else a bar ?  Does it matter if its 10 miles or 10K

Yes, as I have said, there are exceptions. I speak of a general cross section of this community.

Agreed. Barflies fill a specific role, but the "bring home to meet mum is not one of them.

A lot of the younger people I work with met their SO's on line. They are not all married, and not necessarily from a foreign country. Even with the kids, I see teenagers chatting with others from their own high school online first before they have ever talked much in person. Social media has just become a more common way of meeting and interacting with other people.

I met both my ex and my fiance in person (actually on the same night, coincidentally) but I would never put a person down for meeting and connecting in a different way. If it weren't for technology, I never could have stayed connected with both of them.

I agree. It doesn't really matter how people meet. Online, at a club, at work. What really matters is finding out what temperature they like the house to be set at.

Ex (Big Money Bags) liked it cold. Alex likes it whatever way I tell him is correct. That is the only acceptable answer.

Considerable difference in meeting someone online and clicking on a shopping cart of brides to choose from. Furthermore equating supposed 'broker' ads he sees and implying the majority of all couples here must have used one with a disparaging tone, as if he is some sort of expert on his assumptive demographics of this forum. Broad generalizations rarely have a basis in reality and come off in a tone that really isn't VJ Bible adherent.

Maybe we should all drift away from Boris's comments and back to topic? That's the best way to just put it to bed (and keep this discussion moving and not shut down). :)

Any update on the poor guy who drowned?

I have taken no position or tone on the character of the "shopping cart" types. Perhaps many of them wind up happy. Perhaps many are scammed. As you have helpfully pointed out, I don't know.

I do think it interesting that you automatically associate brokers as something negative, something the people of VJ under your wing must be protected against, which I never did. As many others have said, it doesn't matter how you met, as long as you're happy. Yet you discount these brokers as something negative. It's not me with the "disparaging tone," it's you.

With regards to your "VJ Bible," please note that I'm not the one here hurling insults. I've said nothing wrong, only expressed my opinion that a very large cross section of this site use and pay brokers to meet women. Why do you never bring up the VJ Bible when others are hurling insults at me?

And name calling does?

Are you saying that people on this site do not use a marriage broker for the intent of marrying a foreigner? It's news to me since the site is covered in ads for them. In the "upper" forums, a day doesn't go by that somebody doesn't have a question relating to the marriage broker they have met their "fiancee" through. It's no secret that people pay these sites to correspond with and eventually meet up with a woman they intend to marry. Yet I mention it in a single post, and it's taboo?

Others here have some very non-PC observations, you don't seem to go after them with quite the ferocity, why is that?

I didn't see any name calling going on.  Just some broad (and very likely inaccurate) generalizations.

I only know perhaps 30 or more stories of how various people on this site linked up.  None were via a shopping cart as you alluded to.  I'm sure a fair amount met on a dating site.  But my personal circle of friends reflects that only one couple did that particular route.

Please, Boris. You should know when it's time to stop.

And for what it's worth for everyone else, perhaps the person whose relationship Boris has expressed the most doubts about is my own, which is one where we met in person and have known each other for years.

Most recently, I recall somebody calling me a pompous as$. That's just in the previous 24 hours.

And if I were to say that I know of 30 or more stories where various people HAD used a broker, would this sway you? Personal anecdotes carry little weight. As I said, this website is designed specifically to cater to the type of individual I mentioned. I honestly don't know why you're being so defensive about it. If it doesn't matter, then it doesn't matter. Let it go. I'm not the one pushing a taboo narrative here.

Did you address this to the others? Or is it only Boris who should stop. This forum i full of non-PC dicusion, but it seems only I should be the one held to some account.
