We filed the n400 online before the I-751 was approved. It worked perfectly for us...filed n400 March 2018...citizen September 26, 2018. Our I-751 was filed in March 2017, and his joint interview was only a few months after we filed the n400.

Quick question, when applying for I-751, there are filing fees, say you get the citizenship right away instead, do those fees get applied towards that? Or was there fees on top of the filing for the Green Card itself, which you end up not paying?

Nope. You will pay, and pay, and pay. For every single step.

Says the guy who by his timeline has not completed the process thus is not speaking from experience. This is a forum to help people, not just throw random stuff and negativity. I get it, this process is lengthy, expensive and take way longer than it should. It is easy to become sour.

Thank you Geowrian, always helpful as usual!

Either way, in the long term there is a saving on not having to renew the 10years GC :).

Dude, you got to chill. Don't make assumptions about others. Your life will be easier that way.

An N-400 is adjudicated separately from the I-751, although:

1) Sometimes they may do a combo interview and adjudicate them together

2) The N-400 cannot be approved before the I-751. Worst case is they hold off on a decision until the I-751 is approved.

I got an hold off on a decision. They said they gotta review my i751. So do you know how long this take? My i751 is divorce case.
