Getting my AOS ready

Hi!

just some questions for clarification  

i am the USC (female) I have yet to update my name at the SS office due to schedule at work, I have the marriage certificate in hand that shows my new name. My question is filling out these documents what name do I use? Can I use my new last name then update it by next week or it’s not really a problem what name I will use? (Single vs married). Next question, I am helping my husband prepare the documents (i131 etc) is it ok to put my name on the preparer or that’s only for professionals and leave it as is as only his signature is required.

You can update your name with the SSA by mail.  The form is on their website.  Print, fill out, and mail along with certified copy of marriage cert.  Easy.

 

I received my new SS card about 3-4 weeks later.
