Cell phone W/ Good Reception in Bundok, Cagayan Valley-Recommendation Needed

Good morning all... Looking for some recommendations on a phone with a good antenna & good signal reception ; only need TEXT & CALLING capability for my MIL (79 years old) ... She lives up in the hills from Gonzaga, Cagayan Valley... My citizen wife is going there for her birthday next month and I’d like to purchase this phone in the USA and she could use this phone until she returns.. Thank You in advance if you have a phone that works well in the  Bundok.....

I bought the original pixel xl new from Amazon for 199.00 last month for both me and my wife. Built strong. Great reception. Updated last week to Android 10. Impressive phone for under 200.00...

For my phone in the Philippines I buy them there as I need dual sim slots and that is next to impossible to find in the USA.    I tend to use Globe for Talk n Text and Smart for data.   I have been buying OPPOs as of late.

Then I would lean towards Boris' suggestion of getting the Pixel for two bills.

Dumb phones usually just have a number pad.  Letters are 3 to a number, so texting is a PITA.  It's annoying, and it might be tough for someone 79.

 

Easiest is probably just a cheap "smart" phone.  Boris' suggestion is probably good.
