Hello, I have my biometrics appointment on Friday (9/20) and I just wondered if anyone can talk me through what happens? I thought it was just a casual appointment to get finger prints etc taken but I read somewhere that you should wear business attire.. is my husband allowed to come into the building with me? Can I have my phone in the building?...  I know it’s probably nothing to worry about but reading certain things online I have made myself nervous

Just dress comfy.  Phones are fine

It is the most casual thing ever. Wear what you want, but remember they will take a picture which will be used on your cards.

in my case husband came in and waited at the waiting area. There was nobody else there but us.

i had my phone, I am not sure but some may have different rules.

it is really nothing to be nervous about. Just don’t forget your marriage certificate if you had a name change after marriage and your passport and biometric appointment letter shows different last names.

Thank you! I think a few of the things I was reading were on lawyers websites, so I think they maybe said some things to scare people into booking appointments with them as they said at the end “if you have concerns about your appointment book an appointment with us”. Made me feel like it was going to be a formal interview!!

It was just an example of how nonchalant they can be.

Oh lol thank you. Of course the place I have to go to (Elizabeth,nj) says walk in is in case of emergency only and you have to bring proof..

Agree with all Naes said. Super casual, nobody there, no questions (as in interview type questions), wife came in waiting area with me. And look decent because the photo will be on your greencard...if you care about that sort of thing.

Come well before your time like 20 minutes minimum to not be in a hurry, dress comfy, look at phone signs if any, generally look at signs at all times. Listen to what the staff/officer says, be polite and friendly. Take care of your hair/makeup in advance, there are no mirrors. Do not have fresh cuts/burns/injuries to your finger tips. If you do, do not hesitate to come, it is up to them to decide whether or not your appointment must be rescheduled.

moisturize your hands! I always have problems with the fingerprints and forgot to use hand lotion also before my last entry which let to me having to go to secondary at the airport because they couldn't capture my fingerprints properly (it turned out fine).

So lots of lotion on your hands for a few days before your appointment!

no need to dress super fancy.  Wear what you feel is comfortable.  They do take fingerprints and a picture.  The biggest thing is getting there on time.  Aloow yourself at least 15-30 minutes, you never know how busy the place may be.

Thank you for your replies everyone!! I feel a lot calmer now. Still no idea what to wear tho. But at least I know now to kinda make my top half look nice if these photos will be on my cards 🙂

Exactly...fix your hair and make up. Don't wear a Tweety Bird t-shirt and you'll be fine. My biometric place was in a run down strip center...just a former store full of plastic chairs and a couple of machines in the corner for the photo and fingerprints. Nothing special at all.

On point for fix hair and make up hahahha I am happy that the photo taken on biometric  will be used for the card instead the one we sent when submitting the AOS, looked awful on those pictures lol
