I can't seem to edit my previous post, so I will add a new one.

I just checked online case status and the I-539 filed in March 2019 requesting extension for 6 months was been issued an RFE as of today.  This was the case transferred last month.  Strange puzzle.

Any thoughts ?

I would leave it to them to check the status and handle the RFE.  It's their problem.

Why do you still bother?

Some are interested to know how this plays out, since FDNS became involved.

Any update on this case or has it all ground to a halt due to COVID?

Yes and yes.

MIL went home in March on a special flight to return Ukrainians home.  In May, both I-539 extension requests were approved on the same day.  The original Master Calendar hearing scheduled for April was postponed due to COVID, and to my knowledge, not rescheduled yet, although I suppose it is possible that my wife agreed to take a voluntary departure at some future time when COVID lightens up.  The immigration court has resumed hearing non-detained cases, but my wife doesn't have a scheduled appointment yet.  Divorce trial pushed back for COVID and I'm pretty sure the divorce waiver application filed last November has been denied by now, since we're still not divorced.
