Hi, so my husband who is a U.S citizen has been living in Nigeria for the past 3yrs and he didn’t file for taxes. He felt because he was qualified for the income exclusion, there was no point to file. Our I-130 was approved on August 28th, 2019 and his parents have agreed to be our joint sponsor. I’m aware he is still required to fill the affidavit of support form so we were wondering if at the NVC stage we can just upload a letter explaining why he didn’t file for taxes or is there any other way to go about it? Does anyone know how we can file back taxes while abroad?

Not your job to know.  It’s his.

He needs to fill out the information online then hit “paper file” which will generate all schedules, returns, and sundries that go with it.

Then file by mail.  Any more questions get him on here to ask himself.  A grown man should know how to file his own taxes.
