i go to the mosque for prayer only. Does this mean I should have answered yes to the question that asks about if I am part of any group or organization etc?

No, it is not an organization or group, it is a religious place.  So answer no and if you only going to  your religious place for prayer, why are you thinking to change this at the interview?

read that in multiple threads online.. people mention church as an example as an organization that they are part of.

Church/mosque is not an organization unless you're a member of a religious cult/fringe/extremist religious sect or a mainstream religious group like the knights of Columbus for catholics.
