Hi

I am about to file Form I-129F for K1 visa for my fiancee. I have very specific questions. I would appreciate if someone can answer them.

  1. I do not see any need for affidavit of support for K1 petition filing. But there is a sample form I-134 under K1 visa example forms. Do I need to send I-134 as part of my petition?
  2. My fiancee has a middle name but this middle name is not written on her passport. Should I still include her middle name on I-129F?
  3. Can I use all capital letters in filling out the form?
  4. Which consular processing can be faster? Moscow, Russia or Ankara, Turkey?

Thank you

  2. My fiancee has a middle name but this middle name is not written on her passport. Should I still include her middle name on I-129F?  Is it her legal name on her BC?
  3. Can I use all capital letters in filling out the form?  Why?  No shout.
  4. Which consular processing can be faster? Moscow, Russia or Ankara, Turkey? Why?  You don’t get to pick amongst them.  It should be the one that is closest to your legal residence.

Thank you

Alex

Thanks Jorgedig for your answers. I am Turkish American and my fiancee is Russian. We will stay in Turkey during K1 process. Therefore, I  can either choose  Russia or Turkey for the interview. I was wondering which one is faster.

Again, you don’t get to pick.  An approved petition will be sent to whichever consulate is closest to the legal residence.

Also, you will need to have a plan for returning to the US to establish domicile, get a job that qualifies you for sponsorship etc.

You say I cannot get to choose a consulate for processing of a K1 visa. But form1-129F has a question (Question #62) about the US consulate at which the beneficiary will apply for the visa. That means I can choose a specific consulate. This is important because she is in Russia now, but we will start living in Turkey soon.

Is she a legal resident of Turkey?   There can be some glitches with trying to interview at consulates without having residence status.  I’ll defer to others who may have more knowledge of this, but I can say I don’t recommend trying to “work” the system around processing times, as those change all the time.

Processing times change all the time based on many factors. No use working the system that way as Jorgedig had mentioned.

And yes as far as I am aware Jorgedig is also correct. Residency for which consulate that processes K1 Visas is the consulate that you will be going with. On your application  you might run into trouble if you are using a russian address but are trying to get an interview in Turkey... You will likely need to send a change of address in if you are planning on moving to Turkey. This is all to my understanding and my knowledge but someone may come along that might expand on things more.

Hope that makes sense...

You don't get to choose; what you pick is ignored. Some of the options in that drop down (at least as of last year's version of the form) do not actually process immigrant or immigrant-intent visas.

The question really should be removed from the form, as it just confuses people.
