Just curious what the average is for people who have had to fill out a packet 3 and return it. If it took your SO more than a month to do this did it tick you off?

Hey Girl ! Well my husband and I were in a hurry bcz we know that everything takes a long time to do... he got the packet 3 on march 17th and was finished with all the stuff by one weeks time... mailed off on march 27th... so it took 10days for packet 3 to be sent out to cairo... tell ur husband to HURRY UP!

I can't even begin to describe how thin my patience is wearing these days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just have to wonder though if it's a common reaction on the part of the foreign so. I mean it's the last step that you're in control of, so to speak, so I wonder if cold feet comes into play.

He never had a passport, so he's been stuck on that for two weeks now. He has his military papers, his police records, my I-134, my tax returns and paystubs, my bank statement. He scanned those documents that he got and sent them to me and I even filled them out and scanned them back to him. Now he just has to print them out since he LOST The packet 3. He's been waiting for his barber to come back from vacation so his hair can be "just right" for his passport picture so once he gets the passport he can go to the CIB and make the payment (he already tried to do this but they won't take the $ without the passport) and make the medical.

I'm a wicked control freak I guess. I never knew that about myself but it's killing me that things are not getting done. For goodness sakes it's been over a month now. Granted he's been sick for two weeks but I have to wonder......

If it were me I guess the only reason I'd be stalling is that I'd be petrified to up and move to a strange country when I've never even left my own ever.

I screwed up the poll. Thought the question was how long did it take for the consulate to respond to P3.

The correct answer should be about a week. I voted two months or less (mumbai needed about 6 weeks to process p3).

This will vary widely depending on consulate, some are very quick because of work load, others like Guangzhou China servicing a country with 1/4th of the world's population takes some time from NVC to P3, and P3 to P4

I think I may not have worded the poll clearly.

The question is, how long did it take for you and your spouse to send in packet 3 after you recieved it. This is purely time that you and the foreign spouse took to get the papers together.

doodle... make sure hes sends the actual real signed copy of the forms and not a printed copy of where they were signed or they wont be any good... i think its ds 156 or something like that... anways they wont accept no printed copy that has a printed photo copy with the signature on it

But if he prints a blank one off and fills it out he's good to go right?

sure he can print a blank one off... make sure its a current one... and fills it all out properly... and signs and dates it...

That is *almost* the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Tell him to get his butt in gear, and that's not being a control freak!

The question is, how long did it take for you and your spouse to send in packet 3 after you recieved it. This is purely time that you and the foreign spouse took to get the papers together.

We knew what to send back to the consulate before receiving the packet, DS-230 part 1, and OF-169 down-loadable from consulate and DOS websites, we had them prepared way before receiving P3, we returned P3 same day we received it. You did not pot that as an option on your poll.
