Time for application approval process?

Hey VJ

I've read in multiple threads that people were getting USCIS to approve their application within 2 to 3 weeks. It has been 4 weeks for me now. Is it taking longer now to get them approved? Thanks.

2-3 weeks to approve an I-130?... It takes about 12 months

Yes I-130. And what I mean is the time it takes USCIS to approve their end before sending it to NVC. I had read that you should get a notification that they've sent it to NVC within 2 to 3 weeks of sending the application into USCIS.

I believe the NOA2 approval serves as the notification that they sent/will send the petition to NVC. However they have up to 90 days from the approval to do so. For me, it was an I-140 instead of an I-130, it took them 8 weeks after receiving the NOA2 for the status to updated on the USCIS status site to update to "... Case was sent to NVC...". However it only took another 10 days after that for me to receive my case number. If your petition was approved there is nothing you can do now except to periodically check in with NVC to see if you have a case number yet. I wouldn't start doing that though until at least 4 weeks after the NOA2 receipt date

The only possible way to get USCIS to approve an I-130 in 2-3 weeks is with an expedite. It is very far from the norm. Normally expect 7-12+ months depending on service center.

If you are referring to USCIS sending an already approved I-130 to NVC, they usually do so in batches. First it goes through some internal processing, then gets batched out. The former is just something you need to wait out. For the latter part, think of it like a bus. If you're ready right when the bus arrives, great. If not, you gotta wait for the next one.

I totally agree with Jorgedig... There is no way it happened that fast. Perhaps you are getting confused about the type of notification you received. I got the I-797 notice and thought I was approved but that noticed what just to inform me that it was received and that I needed another I-797 that states approval.

Yeah sorry guys. I was only talking about getting notified that USCIS approves all the documents I initially sent them and that they have sent it to NVC. I read multiple times it took 2 to 3 weeks.

Designguy,  interesting it was 8 weeks for you. That makes me feel better, haha.

Thanks everybody.

Yes it’s true. People are filing K3 and it’s pushing their I-130’s through expeditiously. This “trick” is mostly working at Nebraska service center though

It's suspected. Definitely too soon and with too small of a sample to say it's true.

Not discouraging it...but setting expectations. There is anecdotal evidence of a correlation.
