Dear Friends, New rules will be effective for AOS after July 30, 2007 , I wonder If we fill I-485 before that date then are we still required to apply for EAD and AP? Because I dont want to apply for EAD and AP.

Here is the article:

Q. If an applicant files a Form I-485 to adjust status before the rule is effective, will he/she have to pay for future interim benefits?

A. Yes. An applicant for adjustment of status who applies before the fee rule becomes effective will continue to have to file separate applications with fees for employment and travel authorization. Those who file an adjustment of status application (Form I-485) after the new fee schedule is effective will not have to pay the additional fees for employment and travel authorization as these costs have been included in the new adjustment of status application fee.

As you were told in your post yesterday until July 29th you have to pay for each seperate fee that goes along with your application.... if you CHOOSE to file for AP and EAD then you have to pay the fee for it....

From July 30th you pay 1 fee and that includes AOS, AP and EAD....

Why you would choose not to file for EAD is beyond me... it is useful foir things other than just work....

You will not be required to file for AP and/or EAD after July 30th they are optional interim benafits, you can still apply for them later if you decide that you need them, they will cost more though at that point.

After July 30 they will be included in the cost of AOS.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.
