Hello all!

So excited we are putting our k1 application together and sending it off soon!

However I’m finding it hard to find an answer. I was looking ahead on the p3 just to be prepared

but I noticed marriage certificates and saw some answers from various posts said that previous marriage certificates must be included. So here is my question...

1, In my case when I file for divorce at the registry in BC Canada I had to bring my original copy for them to take and they ended up keeping it. So consequently I do not have a copy. Is this something that I should look into and see about getting a copy of it?

Thought I should ask this question now in case I have to go on a wild goose chase.

The registry at the Supreme Court office, it was required to file for the divorce.

You may want to visit the Canadian regional forum for all  questions specific to Montreal,  but you will likely need to have an original or certified copy of you divorce decree for the interview

YMMV

Thanks! I have an original divorce certificate and a certified copy of the divorce order.

I’ll definitely ask there. I was trying to find the regional forum and it’s just hard to navigate in a stupid phone haha

Hello all just reposting as a kind individual linked me to the regional forum for Canada...

I’m finding it hard to find an answer. I was looking ahead on the p3 just to be prepared

but I noticed marriage certificates on the list and in my search saw some answers from various posts saying that previous marriage certificates must be included. So here is my question...

1. In my case when I filed for divorce at the registry in BC Canada It was required to bring my original copy for them to take so they could start the divorce filing and they ended up keeping it. So consequently I do not have a copy. Is this something that I should look into and see about getting a copy of it? I do have my original divorce certificate and certified copy of my final divorce order so in my mind this should be fine?

Thought I should ask this question now in case I have to go on a wild goose chase.

I have never seen PREVIOUS marriage certificates needed for anything....only termination of previous marriages.

I've seen ppl mention this in posts too. I guess maybe some countries maybe?

Anyway, I never got my first marriage certificate so when I filled for divorce I only had the bottom thing/page that the priest signed from the marriage licence. No way was I going to pay for a marriage certificate after I was divorced lol.  Montreal was only interested in my divorce papers and custody stuff.

Haha 😂 my thoughts exactly I DO NOT want to order a marriage certificate. Unfortunately I do not have anything written from the officiant... (friends and I had a bonfire last year.. haha)

Do you think I should be okay with the divorce order and the divorce certificate?

Oh yes you will be fine. I didn't have the bottom thingy after it was turned in either. I just gave them the divorce papers/decree.
