Hi,

I applied for my in-laws B2 tourist visa.

Visa Counselor asked for Visa type of my wife. They incorrectly forwarded the Passport towards the counselor.

And that is all. Counselor refused the visa with 214b. As per my understanding, in case any document is missing

it should qualify for 221g. If not enough ties could be established then it should be 214b.

There were no questions asked regarding family, business or anything else.

What do you mean applied for your in laws? B2 visas are applied for by the beneficiary you can’t apply for someone else

Keep in mind CO often have any idea which direction they will go on an application prior to the interview. Also on what grounds are you saying the rejection reason was wrong. In the COs eyes the applicant did not present a strong enough intent to return to their home country

What document was missing? Other than the DS-160, no documents are required (other than passport if they issue the visa).

The CO determined that they could not overcome the mandatory presumption of immigrant intent and therefore were ineligible for the visa under 214(b). No documents needed.

If they can show strengthened ties to home, they could apply again.

There are no documents, sponsorships or petitioning by other people for B visas though.
