Hi Everyone.Does anyone here knows if there is a same day oath ceremony in Washington DC field office? if yes how often and what are the criteria in order to get selected for the same day ceremony. Thanks in advance for your responses. Good luck to all of us.

If you live in DC proper, I'm not aware of any same-day oath ceremonies (though I don't know about special cases like military, social security beneficiaries, etc.) Typically the oath ceremonies are judicial, not administrative, meaning that they are conducted by a judge in the US district court on Constitution Ave usually once a month, on the second Tuesdays. Wait time to get booked for a ceremony after approval is about 2 months or longer.

The Fairfax office also decides N-400 applications for some residents of Virginia, and the oath ceremony arrangements are different (typically faster).

Hope that helps. You can direct further questions on this forum:

Thank you @afrocraft for your prompt response. I live in Alexandria, but will probably have my interview at the washington field office which is in Fairfax VA. I heard that some people take the oath ceremony  the same day as their interview and you won't have to wait for a later on ceremony. I do not if it is case by case or if it was something the field office was doing before and stopped currently.

I wouldn’t worry about it too much, waiting a few weeks is not a big deal :) i hope

I was interviewed at Washington Field Office on a Monday and had my oath on the following Tuesday. This was in June this year

Thanks for the response @hashtagme. And the ceremony was the CIS office in Fairfax or at a different location? Did you asked the officer after the interview if there was a ceremony coming the same day or next day? How long did it take to get an interview after you submitted your application?

There was something wrong with my fingerprints in the system, I had to go to Alexandria to get them done one more time (they couldn’t open the previous file) and that made me having to come back next day for the ceremony, my understanding was that they had one on Monday too.

Ceremony was in the same building in Prosperity Ave in Fairfax.

I am a military spouse, stationed overseas, so I don’t know if you are too, but that also sped up the whole process since we had to be back in Europe the following week.

I filed November 2018, got interview notice in May and interview in June (i could have chosen a date as early as end of May, but chose June).

good luck to you! 🍀
