I tried to expedite I-131 through Ombudsman last week. They replied to me within a few days. Then 2 days later, they sent me an update that the case is under active eview. Does that mean the expediting process was approved?

The email says this:

Thank you for your request for case assistance.  In response to our inquiry, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) indicated that your case is under active review, and it anticipates issuing correspondence within 15 days.  Our office will continue to monitor USCIS’ progress on a regular basis until there is a specific action or resolution.  We will contact you as soon as we receive an update from USCIS.

Thanks for your time, guys.

No. It means that your application  is currently being reviewed and that the USCIS and that they expect to make a decision within 15 days

Thanks for your reply...

Received another response from USCIS yesterday... Sep 9, 2019

"The status of this service request is:
The expediting of a case allows it to be sent quickly to an officer for adjudication.  However, your case is currently under review by an officer.  We have notified the officer reviewing your case of your expedite request, however it is their discretion to grant the expedite.  Please contact us again if you do not receive the document or other correspondence within the 30 day time frame."

I guess they cannot expedite anymore, once the application has been assigned to the officer for review.

The congresswoman received a response from USCIS more than a week ago.... August 29, 2019

"Currently, this case is pending assignment to an adjudications officer at the Nebraska Service Center (NSC).  Your inquiry and attached documentation in support of your constituent’s request for expedited processing has been forwarded to a Form I-131 supervisor.  If the request is approved, your constituent’s case will be assigned to an officer for adjudication.  Please inform your constituent that time will be needed for the completion of background checks and adjudication.  If your constituent does not receive a decision or other notice of action within two weeks, you may contact us for an update."

I guess the expedite has been approved?

I read it somewhere on the web, it says

"approvals of expedite requests merely get the case in front of IPO officer quicker; it will not speed up the time of the actual adjudication."
