Hey, guys! I've been lurking here for a bit, but I just wanted to finally say hello!

We've already received our NOA2 and packet 3. I sent my fiance financial documents, photos, cards, proof of relationship (for K-1 Visa), etc., to Algeria on Fri via DHL. I almost had a heart attack. It was $132!!!! For some papers!! Anyway, for those of you early on in the process, I highly recommend trying to get everything together and sending it as soon as possible once the NOA2 comes your way so you don't have to spend so much money on shipping services.

Amed got packet 3 on Tuesday (the 21st), and was able to get a quick medical appointment for this weekend, and the only thing holding us up was the I-134 on my end, so I sent it DHL. We're tired of waiting!

I know there's only a couple of others on Visajourney having to go through Algeria. I've found very little information on here about the Algerian consulate. So far, package 3 requests the usual documents, like marriage, birth, and divorce certificates, military service certificates, police reports, etc., but they also request a proof of marital status record (apparently easily obtained in Algeria), form DS-157, and last year's tax return AND W-2 of the sponsor. It took 3 weeks exactly from the day the NVC mailed the packet to the day Amed got his packet 3. We'll see how speedy everything else goes!

I will update with further info once we get an interview date!

Welcome to our forum. The proof of marriage status sounds like the celibacy certificate. Morocco didn't require it but I had Abdel go get one anyway just in case. Of course I learned about it here. This site is so incredibly informative.

The interview date wasn't included in his packet? That's how you get it in Morocco, but then, each country is certainly different.

Good luck in your journey.

OMG! I just looked and saw you are in Charleston. We're in Savannah! It's so good to see someone that close to us. We'll have to get together after Amed gets here and see if he and Abdel hit it off. There aren't a lot of Middle Easterners in our area.

Hey! Thanks for your reply!

To answer your question, no, there wasn't an interview date listed in the letter. It just said to call the consulate once all documents on the list were in hand, and they would schedule an intereview at that time.

That's so cool that you're just down the road from us! I am sure Amed would love to get together with Abdel once he arrives. I know it's going to be odd for him to be such a minority here, and it will be good for him to meet some people of a similar cultural background.

How are things going with Abdel in the States? Has it been difficult for him to find employment? Amed's a smartie, and his English has gotten much better, but I always worry that it'll be hard for him to find a job down here.

My fiance is in Morocco, and I just sent him my packet 2 days ago by FEd Ex. $106 for 4 days. He received his packet from the consulate only last week with his appointment scheduled for April 4th. It seems like Morocco is moving ahead, in the past they sent you a packet first and then after scheduled a appointment. If I know that he would definitely get his visa in the same day, I would fly there and deliver the papers myself

Yeah, those shipping companies are expensive, but you really need to use them if you have to send something quick or if you're sending important original documents that you can't easily get a new copy of.

Welcome to the forum, we'll be happy to cheer you on as you wend your way through the USCIS maze!

I know how you feel as well It cost us $85 just to send two documents and two passport photos, however it was delivered from Algeria to Detroit within 2 days.. but I also had to wire him the money so there was a fee that went along with that too. Unfortunately DHL is the only reliable company that delivers to and from Algeria to the states. we can start a whining session lol :help::o:o:o
