The proper use of punctuation should not be underestimated!

Indeed. I could overlook the disregard for capitalization rules. Perhaps the author wanted to appear loud, but not too loud.

The absence of punctuation completely changes the meaning of the entire sentence. It's just so uncivilized.

  Let's eat, grandma!

Actually, that depends. It could be capitalized if it is replacing a proper noun, like "Grandma Judy" (not my grandmother's name).

I agree, but if he wrote Grandma Judy, I wouldn't have said anything.

Let's have a grammar pedantry rumble! :D  No kicking, biting or wrestling.

I don't really want to go on too much. It's only a matter of time before I spell something wrong or forget a comma.

I'm the one who typed "wrogn" the other night under the influence of boxed wine so I probably shouldn't get too dug in either.

I don't usually post in this forum ("just the facts, maam"), but I'll bite this once...

IMHO, the biggest problem here is the mentality of too many Americans nowadays. It used to be "Can we do it? Let's try." when it came to things like science. Now it's the same except for one's rights, or perceived rights.

Is burning a US flag exercising 1st amendment rights? Better question is why are you burning the flag? Just because you can? You aren't helping your cause.

Is open carry (w/ a large amount of ammo and vests, nonetheless) in a store exercising 2nd amendment rights? Better question is why are you pushing it in the first place? You aren't making people safer or feel safer.

There is an argument that if you don't exercise a right then you may lose it. But there is already plenty of that exercising going on. Let it rest. It's been exercising at full intensity for decades now.

People need to get it through their heads - not just in the examples above...there are far more mundane ones - to use common sense and save pushing rights to limits for times when it actually matters.

As for the specific article, they're a private company and responding to their interpretation of what their customers and potential customers want. Walmart is not known for acting on morals/ethics or to make statements...they're clearly driven by $$$. They think this is what their patrons want. And that's fine...they're a business. Kroger is acting for the same reason. Maybe it's wrong. They'll pay the consequences in their bottom line if so.

Public sentiment right now is that action is needed. What action is when everything gets mucked up, distorted, pushed to extremes, etc. There are gun grabbers. Most people are not. There are steps that can be taken - both with guns and with metal health - to attempt to decrease the occurrence  of gun violance.

Most of all, there are responsible gun holders who pay the price for the actions of a small minority. Unfortunately, that's reality. Until we can get back to common sense changes, nobody is going to be happy.

Well said.  You should post more often,  BW!
