I think it is more how backlogged that particular office is and where they can send it to for not too much further away to get it processed quicker

Yup. At some point last year they started a policy of moving some cases from backlogged field offices to other nearby offices. But you can't make that happen (well, except by moving, assuming USCIS processes your change of address correctly).

Received my combo card today and already sent it back to NBC. Now I'll wait 2 more months to receive a new card.

It's unbelievable how incompetent the people working at USCIS are.

our experience was pretty similar, I think for some people they may have a pretty good idea that they will approve before you step through the door, i just wish I knew the criteria that could be of use for everyone so we could share it and why others seem to have more difficult interviews, even in the same offices.

I think in almost all aspects of this process, the interview is strictly Pro Forma, which means, they have already made their decision, but still must do the interview. Possible in a small of cases the interview will make a difference, but I'd think it's less than 1%.

you very well may be right, just think of all the time everyone could have saved if they werent mandatory and how much quicker the process might be

Something strange just happened, my case status changed to Ready to be Scheduled. It had recently said I have an RFE, but hadn’t received the letter yet. Maybe it was a mistake on their part? I’m not complaining though!

2 weeks after receiving?!😱 oh wow... I guess I'm gonna have to tough it out again. Thanks anyways!

look up this thread.

most people get it 1-2 weeks after EAD arrived. If you don't get it by 3 weeks go to the local SS office and they can look it up if it's been processed.

If not processed yet in the system, I would just apply on the spot.

I am in the same shoes with you. EAD is coming on 1/11 Saturday and I will stick it out till Feb 1. If by then not received, I will apply in person in an SS office.

Maybe I spoke to soon about not expecting any updates for my i485 case. San Francisco, CA here.

Case just changed to "Interview Was Scheduled" from "Case is ready to be Scheduled for An Interview". Waiting on actual letter in the mailbox. Wondering if any other Bay Area members received updates today.

From looking at others, although it depends on the office location, it seems like around 30~45 days timeframe. If any others can chime in on this, appreciate it. Thanks!
