getting a local driver's license has been a challenge for mine too. she has a valid Thai license, which at least she can use to drive. When first she took the DMV test she failed the max 8 questions around question 12. After that she admitted she didn't understand the  English for most questions. I purchased her an oregon DMV online test, which had a predicted probability to pass the knowledge test and I told her she cannot go again to test until the probability is at 85%. When she reached it (~1.5 months practicing and learning mostly English words), she passed immediately. Now we are waiting for her work authorization card to arrive (approved just Jan 3rd) and with that we can go back, prove her legal presence and then she will be allowed to take the road test, which will be the final step to get her a local driver's license. ....with her married name on it, so finally we can live normal.

It's been a journey for sure :)

she will be taking a drivers ed course when she gets a job, just so that she is prepared, i want her to drive with an instructor with one of those special cars

my wife also said everyone going to the interview must sit down for a few seconds before leaving...

I think it is because of this https://www.quora.com/Why-do-culturally-Russian-people-sit-down-for-a-few-moments-before-going-on-a-trip

we did,so whatever helps 😁

why would i open an account i will never use?

thats also considered a red flag according to some folks

I agree. We will not be opening joint bank accounts any time soon. I start work tomorrow and our interview is this week as well. We have basic renters ins., jewelry ins., car ins., life ins., photos, wedding and holiday greeting cards from family and friends, I printed about 12 photos and added a link to the Google drive as I did with the other steps of the process.

We have separate bank accounts at the moment, in lieu I am printing out our CashApp transactions; that's how we send money to each other to get misc. bills and expenses paid. To each his/her own, the joint bank account should not be viewed a death knell considering other evidence may be more practical.

My EAD card was mailed today. Unfortunately, my name on the approval letter was still misspelled, even after 2 inquires to get it fixed and endlesss calls to USCIS.

I'm feeling I'm gonna have to return the card to them to get it fixed, and probably wait months untill getting a new one.

We ALWAYS do this.  She has instilled it in me, too.  Prior to leaving we take a moment to close our eyes, relax, etc.  She also does this blessing thing on both of us when traveling together... and to me whenever I am about to leave to go to work in the morning.

Thanks for your AOS interview intel.  I saw it on your profile as I am a loyal follower.  🙂   Great info and we sure hope we get someone experienced like you did.  It's our turn a week from Wednesday.  Still waiting on the EAD/AP (for what that's worth).

Is there anyone who never had SSN issued before and applied for it on I-765(EAD)? How long did it take to receive SSN card after receiving EAD?

I got my EAD in the mail last week and now waiting for my SSN card... realized that there is not much I can do with just EAD until I get SSN 😑

About 2 weeks based on what others reported

Ugh, just got an update that our interview was scheduled. I don’t even know how that is possible because our local office wait time is 10-25 months. We should be happy but we were really hoping to wait this out almost 2 years to skip the ROC process lol.

think of it this way, at least the waiting will be over once you get approved and it should significantly reduce the anxiety and stress for both you and your spouse

best of luck on your interview and congratulations!

True, but I am starting to think they are lying about wait times at these offices. I even double checked today and it still shows 9.5-25 month wait time for family based petitions. So how is it possible that we filed in September and we got scheduled already🤔
