Hey everyone, Our interview was set for April 7th but was also cancelled, still no new schedule. We are in Portland OR.
I just applied for EAD and AP renewal at the 6 month mark because my combo card expires December of this year (2020). I just received NOA1 text message and case number starts with IOE, does  anyone know what that means?

Thank you!

It has something to do with electronic filing. People say they are processed faster.

Could you please update us as your paperwork gets processed?  Ours will be expiring January-February 2021 and we have to look into doing this some time in August-September.  Also, what information did they ask or you included with your submission?  Did you do it online?  We would appreciate any insight you could share with us.

Thanks!

I might have missed this...why is it better to submit the renewal 6 months early vs. let's say 1 month before expiration ?

The massive 13,000 furloughs that could turn into layoffs without government assistance to cover USCIS payroll.  If it was slow before the pandemic, and during, imagine how long everything will take with that massive firing of employees of an agency that already had a big backlog prior to this whole mess.

For EAD renewal, Do we have to submit a certified marriage certificate or can be a copy? I would need to order more from the court if it need to be certified.

Thank you!

You can always submit copies, just make sure you always have an original yourself in case they issue a RFE or want to see it at interview.

Oh, I didn’t mean to ask for politics. I don’t get into that either. I meant as far as what could mean for this entire process for those of us waiting. If my husband doesn’t get the EAD/AP renewal or the GC by February, does it mean he would be illegal in 2021? 😕

No. As long as his application is pending he's under authorized stay and fine. When you apply for a EAD renewal, the receipt notice also serves as a extension until you get the card so you're also fine with that until you get the card again. But not for AP, if I remember right the extension letter doesn't work for AP. That sucks

Thank you. I can always look into the AP. Worst case scenario, if it doesn’t work for AP, we won’t travel until it is renewed. It is not like we can do a whole lot of travel with COVID. I appreciate your input!

The article has nothing to do with Trump. USCIS's fight is with congress as it claims it needs funding to continue pre-covid days. You just got to love the Trump bashing from the news organizations.

If you submitted your paperwork then your in line to be processed and you are still legal to be in the US. I wouldn't advise leaving the states till all this gets sorted out.
