Revoked K1 visa after issued

Hi,

I am needing some guidance. My fiance and I were approved and received the K1 visa however before he was able to travel on it he had to return to his home country. The following is a portion of the email I received from the consulate in which we obtained the K1 visa (name removed for confidentiality):

"In a case such as Mr.  XXXXX, while the visa is no longer valid, the underlying petition is not returned to USCIS.  Mr. XXXXX may wish therefore to contact the National Visa Center and the U.S. Embassy in Abuja or U.S. Consulate General in Lagos to request assistance in obtaining a new visa."

The consulate in Nigeria primarily operates by email, no live person to ask questions, what would be our next step? The petition was not returned so does that mean we start with the D-160 online form again? Just need a little guidance

The petition will have expired, so you will need to start with filing a new petition.

@Jorgedig Thank you for responding. So to clarify, because I'm very new to the immigration processes, that means starting over with the initial I-129F petition, Yes?

I would do exactly as the email says.  Until the petition gets returned,  you still have a possibility to get a new Visa.   Contact the appropriate embassy or consulate asap

YMMV

@payxibka Thank you, that's exactly what we are doing, it's difficult because communication is by email. I have advised my fiance to visit the office if no response in a week.

Not many consulates will allow walk ins

YMMV

@mytruelove18 Hi,  we were approved for the k1 visa in North Cyprus. He initially traveled there for school. His school visa expired before he could travel (flight was for 9/9/19), local government would not allow him to stay and he had to go back home. The US consulate there revoked his visa and said he can reapply at home

Wonder why they pulled the K1, most unusual.

The email states that the petition WAS NOT returned to the the USCIS, which is a good thing.

As they advice you, contact not just the consulate but the NVC. You can call them using the customer service number.

My guess is that embassy/consulate in Cyprus, sent the petition back to the NVC and they will be the ones sending it to Nigeria.

As you'll be processed in another country, the NVC should generate another case number. So again, you should contact the National Visa Center by phone.

@kaigem

He needs to contact the National Visa Center ASAP by phone & give them all the information needed as per the Visa been revoked. I guess once he sorts this out with the NVC,  then he can contact the American Embassy in Nigeria as needed.
