Issued CR1 instead of IR1

Hi all,

I just received my passport and brown envelope (it's really yellow!) and noticed my visa in the passport states CR1. At the time of my interview we had been married 2 years and the Consular Officer said I would be given an IR1.

Now, I understand that when I enter the US I have to point out we have in fact been married for 2 years to get the 10 year stamp in my passport. Has anyone out there been successful in doing this??

I also understand if we aren't successful in solving this problem at the POE we can complete an I-90. We would like to avoid any more paperwork!!

Hi, I realize you posted this several years ago but I was wondering what happened? I received my interview date by email yesterday and it says CR1 instead of IR1. I will mention it to the Consular Officer but I was wondering if you had success at the POE or if you had to fill out more paperwork once you entered the US.

Congrats. Yes at POE, get your CR1 changed to IR1.

If it's not corrected at the embassy, make sure you have your marriage certificate handy when you go through your POE and mention it to the CBP officer. It should be corrected there, but if not, you'd then have to fill out the I-90.

When people talk about POE or Point of Entry, For US, do they refer to when they land in Chicago or where ever they land in the Country first? and at the immigration check?

First US airport you land in. Well actually... Certain airports outside the US are POEs too, like Dublin in Ireland! So, first airport where you encounter US Customs and Immigration people will be your POE.
