Literal quote from the very last session that ended in ink blots and tears and exasperation: “I suppose you can only work a biro, then.”

Leaky and pretentious is all that come to mind for me, not saying people that use them are, but i would be being just that, if I did

Nicely done sir. 😉

Agreed that it's not an instrument for everybody. Obviously you'd have no use for one if you were, for example, a laborer. But if the written word is at all in your repertoire, it should at least be considered.

1) Writing wedding invites and thank you notes.

2)Artwork. I still have my grandfather's fountain pen and original inkwell from the 1940s.

3) Pretentiousness.

4)Interest in calligraphy.

5) Eccentric writer.

Quite a convincing list. I already have my eye on an automatic banana peeler, but I'll certainly have to give some serious consideration to acquiring a fountain pen for my next frivolous purchase.

Wonderful! Do you have details?

He was an artist at some point before the war and then briefly after. It's in storage at the moment but it even still had the original indian ink and a box of maybe 50-100 different types of nibs (some gold and silver), and they came in handy for our wedding notes. One is a vintage montblanc no idea about the rest.

If you want to be really frivolous, go old school Quill n' Ink.

What a lovely family treasure, you're very lucky.

It's why I use a fountain pen. I would be hopeless in making such a difficult choice every time I pulled such an amazing mechanical contraption from its case! 😉

I'm  a medical professional. The last thing I would ever need to pay for is a pen. The first thing every sales rep does is leave a box of promotional pens on my desk.

I don't think I would do well with a jar of ink on my desk. Hard enough to get all the coffee cleaned up as it is. What I do probably need is a black desk.

Not quite a laborer, i have a PhD in business, the pen is not my wheelhouse, nor are bow ties  or wing tip shoes, its an accessory i don’t choose to have, as i said if i had one it would be an affectation not as a superior tool
