For those who have just filed your I-129f application with USCIS, this thread has been created for your needs and for you to be with others experiencing different aspects of this journey. This is a place to ask questions and to share experiences. All are here to learn together. Good luck because this is a long process currently running 5-6 months from filing date for your NOA2 approval.

https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/K1_Process_V11.pdf

Also, since your application will go through a number of background checks this is a primer on what goes on with the background process.

I know it really sucks, but the best way to get through this is to lower your expectations and try not to compare your timeline to anyone else's. Don't forget that the people here on Visa Journey represent a tiny percentage of all the petitions the CSC has to work through! When someone gets to your file you'll hear from them. Stay busy, talk a lot with your fiancé about non-visa stuff, don't forget to hang out with your friends, take up a new hobby, go to a sporting event, and your time will come! Good luck

Explanation why is it taking so long.

We are still waiting for the NOA1 Letter.

The NOA1 letter takes about 2-3 weeks after they cash your money.

I couldn't help notice your nickname. That's fun to use here but you don't want to be calling yourselves hubby, husband, Mr. T or Mrs T. in your social media links nor in any other space like twitter or facebook. Embassies are looking for fraud and that throws up a red flag.

Let me also invite you to read something with ceremony. I think you can see where they tie in also.

There have been may cases that what you see as a "party" to what the CO sees as a possible "wedding". I would hate to see you come all this way and get denied because of an innocent picture. Why give the CO "ammunition" to use against you in ways you never thought possible. I'll give you an example and from there you'll need to make your own decision. If you want more information than in the upper right corner of this page is a search box. Use the words "marriage ceremony" and you will have more examples. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/641345-k-1-visa-wedding-ceremony/

Ok, by advice I'm joining this thread as well since our packet was filed on 08.30.19 and thus our NOA1 is due this September. :)

You can stay here and add your experiences and questions and you can read through the July Aug thread which pretty much will answer all your questions before you even know they are a question.

Glad to have you.

Thank you for the reminder @Greenbaum! It is appreciated!

Unfortunately, I can't change my Display Name anymore. I hope the "Soon To Be" is enough of an explanation.

I have read about the denials because of looking "too married". I'm happy to have known this before our engagement; because of this, we had a simple dinner instead of an engagement party.

By the way, what do you think of this RFE? Isn't it kind of contradictory?

They are in a way contradictory BUT there is something else there they are looking at that is raising a red flag. Could be age, could be the length of time the two were together along with their age that a proposal came so soon that has sent a red flag. It could be the letter. If they sent one with both signatures it can be flag. That they wanted only two separate letters with two separate signatures.

It's also strange because USEM operates like a drive up window at McDonalds. It's one of the easiest consulates to receive a visa for.

I've seen several of the same RFE's from a local FB Visa group. It seems that the past practice of making a very short and succinct Letter of Intent (which has been enough for most to get approved before) is past its prime.

Nothing official from USCIS, true. I hope they do say something about it just to be sure. Anyway, just basing my opinion on what I've seen so far. :)

USPS is taking forever to deliver our packet to the Dallas Lockbox. :crying: It was supposed to be delivered on 09.03.19 but for some reason it was not delivered despite it already being in Dallas by that time, and now the estimated delivery has been delayed to 09.05.19!

Don't worry it'll get there real soon. Congrats on sending your petition!
