i just called nvc and was told that our number was assigned yesterday

 

noa2 september 3rd

case file number assigned september 30th

 

i guess first week of september noa2s get on the phone now, maybe they'll have yours waiting for you as well :)))

 

btw i was listening to elevator music for an hour before i got to talk to someone, but it was well worth it!

But like, can I do anything with the case number? Or do I still have to wait for the email to schedule the interview? 

 

Still debating if I should call or no.

as i understand i will now be able to fill out the ds-160 form and my fiance is working on the affidavid of support. in our case it was also useful because i learned that i was assigned to the wrong embassy (argh!) just trying to figure out what to do about that now. but that probably won't happen in most cases, just with people like me who have changed countries in the past

it depends on your embassy... at mine the case # didn't really do anything for me since i had already submitted the ds160 and with my embassy they schedule the interview for you... other embassies you need that case # in order to schedule the interview yourself

When you get the case number, it means your papers will be forwarded the the local Embassy on the next shipping date. Anyone who will get their case number before Oct 15th will be sent out on Oct 15. Case number is a good indication that you will be having your interview soon. 

 

In our country, once our status is "Case Ready" we can already schedule the medical and interview.

This is not true... anyone who gets there case # assigned on or before Oct 9th will make the Oct 15th shipment

thank you! i had sent them a message via their website contact form over a week ago requesting frankfurt embassy, apparently that didn't work. so now i sent them a message to the asknvc email address. i hope this time it will do something. if not i guess i'll be processing in paris, no biggie for the distance, my main worry are the waiting times to get an interview but oh well, what are a few added months right?

I called today to check for my NOA2 from Sep 14th, they said they haven't received it from USCIS yet.

Does anyone know if the NVC sends out any sort of beneficiary employer verification while performing background check? My fiance's workplace received an odd message to come to the post office to pick up package about sponsorship. No name. (Fiance is in Dubai, and the supervisor posted this in the workplace group WhatsApp, asking if anyone applied to get a visa. They dont have mail service there, and all is picked up at the Post Office box. )  I just got NOA2 on 9/17, and no case number assigned yet. Thanks!

Is the "every other Tuesday" shipment only applicable to NVC --> Embassy or apply to USCIS shipping your file to NVC as well?

Since NVC never gives you a document saying when they officially received your case, the only data we've got on this is what people report NVC told them by phone or email (and since less impatient people will wait until the NVC notifies them rather than calling every so often, there's not great self-reported data here).

 

I don't think anyone has ever spotted a pattern in that.

NVC to Embassy only
