I am all set with DS-160 complete, ustraveldocs fee paid.  Will book VAC and Embassy appointments as soon as CEAC status changes to "in transit".  I will need the appointment confirmation page to do the medical.  According to folks in various threads, Packet 4 for India may or may not required for the medical and in any case one can take a Packet 4 printout and insist that the medical be done.  In fact in many cases Packet 4 was never received or not received before embassy appointment.

 

Take some time to read the pdf that is linked in the first page first entry of this thread and it will explain the shipping dates and how that works. There is no shipment this week.

 

There is no P4 from India. You need this letter and follow the steps on the first page and then gather the documents on the second and third.

Thanks @Greenbaum.  Let's see when the shipment happens.  As for P4, the document you linked does say it is "Packet 4".

Most of refer to the P4 as the P3 because almost ALL embassy's send the P3 or offer it on their website. That's where the confusion is .

Went ahead and scheduled VAC on Nov-17 and embassy appointment on Dec-13 (Dec-5 was no longer available).  If needed, I will reschedule the embassy appointment but no harm booking it now.

Are you sure there is no harm in booking now only to have to cancel later. You're make a very big assumption.

There are risks in every situation.  I am traveling to India Nov 22 - Dec 8 and would like to go with her for the interview.  Since it is Dec 13, if the visa is granted we can travel back together around Dec 20-25, if all goes well.

 

The only delay possibility is if NVC doesn't send the packet to BOM this month which I consider an unlikely risk.  In that case she will have her fingerprinting and medical already completed and we will reschedule the consulate appointment as available.

 

The risk is if I don't book it now, the appointments in December may no longer be available and it may only be available next year.  So, fingers crossed.  So far my timeline has been quick and I see no reason why NVC will keep the K1 packet with itself for another few weeks.  If they send it next week, the CEAC status should change to "Ready" early November and all will be well.

The other risk is 221g/AP which will delay her visa but that is true no matter when the appointment is going to be.

FYI - Shipments will go out BOTH Tuesday and Wednesday so don't be disappointed that yours never left on Tuesday. The website is updated throughout the day so if others are getting notified and you haven't been then you need a little more patience for yours to appear as shipped. They don't all ship at the same time. Good luck.

 

Once it's in transit you should then move over to your regional sub-forum for help with next steps. Use the "Forum" tab in the blue ribbon at the top of the page and scroll down 3/4 of the page to locate your country/region.

Just got word that my petition (NOA2 9/27) was assigned a case number yesterday (Thursday 10/24).

 

Will I miss next week's shipment? Or is it possible I will still get in there? It's heading to Stockholm.

Shipments are made on every other Tuesday and Wednesday. Shipments are updated throughout the day so if yours doesn’t appear, just relax and have patience as may show later in the day or the next day. If you received your case number prior to the Wednesday before the shipping week you most likely will be on the shipping schedule for the next week. If not then you will be on the following scheduled shipping dates.

I just got my case number (10/25) and received my NOA2 (09/27) :D:D
