I received our case number on October 1st and after approval notice on 8/21 from the USCIS haven't heard anything since. Can she fill out the DS-160 now or do we have to wait until embassy in Colombia receives visa from NVC?? Anything else I can do while waiting?

Thanks, Eric

(the embassy will receive your application. You are not approved yet as you have not had your interview. That's where you get approved)

Read the PDF on the first page the first entry. It will explain what you should have done by now. Then follow the instructions below.

After you get your case number from NVC it would be a good idea if you were to connect with the VJ sub forum for all things dealing with the US Embassy in Colombia and they will answer your questions for the processing of your visa from their personal experience. Link:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/96-mexico-latin-south-america/

Get the US Embassy Colombian K-1 Packet 3 (P3) at  https://drive.google.com/file/d/16Oeg4xYRja1hqUSzF-uEaj1QiyoFnv9X/view?usp=sharing as this is your bible needed to complete and receive your visa. The required documents are included and use the P3 as a check list. Once you have completed or gathered the required documents you'll be ready for your interview. If it is not on the Embassy letter, it probably is not needed.

Last but not least, READ the pages on the US Embassy website for your country so that you are up to speed.

https://co.usembassy.gov/visas/

One last place to check for information would be the VJ Wiki found here: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Special:AllPages and here http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Colombia&cty=Bogota

Ppl doing their vaccinations in Columbia can do them with anyone not connected to the approved medical center where  your exam will take place saving you a lot of money. Be sure to get a receipt that states every single vaccination that you received. See list below that are required vaccinations. Then during your medical present the receipt for the vaccinations to the Doctor and ask that they be transposed to the DS-3025 and marked COMPLETE! Very important that they are marked complete. You will use this document once you are married and filing your AOS package.

Good luck and God's speed.

Just called this morning around 7:30 PST:
Phone (for nonimmigrant visa inquiries only): (603) 334-0888
Press "1" to talk to a representative (didn't wait for the message to read)

They asked for my receipt number

I only had to wait about 2 minutes before someone answered.

She said they had received our case (NOA2: 9/27) but hadn't assigned us a case number yet.

She said they are currently processing cases from 9/18 and couldn't give me any information about how long or how many "days" they get through at a time.

Hope this helps anyone who is still waiting.

as far as i understand the embassy contacts the foreigner fiancee once they receive the petition. they then demand a different set of documents including affidavit of support, police records, medical exam results. some of those documents we can already gather now, others only after we get our case number assigned. depending on how long the process takes it might also be good to redo the letters of intent to marry with a more recent date, and maybe have some more proof of relationship ready to bring to the interview in case it should be asked for

Letter of Intent is not needed unless specified in the P3 interview requirements or you have gone past the NOA2 expiry date (first four months). Keep in mind every embassy is different.

I called the NVC and found that my RDJ # was assigned on October 10th and was told it has not been shipped out yet. Was I wrong to assume it would have shipped in the middle of the month?

Oct 10 is Thursday. I think you didn't make the cut off for Oct 15 shipping. Yours will be included in Oct 29 shipping.

See @shoji's response and my response above to @Charlee.Alex. Read each of the entries when you return to this thread. New information is added all the time and can answer your question even before you ask it. Sorry, I hate answering the same question over and over when I have already answered it for someone else. :)

Thank you for the excellent information. To be clear we need to complete the entire checklist BEFORE the K1 interview at embassy? I've seen varying responses.

Yes unless indicated certain documents are required to be sent ahead of times. I am not familiar with a gazillion embassy's and their procedures so I invite you to do two things. Read the P3 letter thoroughly and follow the steps and find your sub-forum and become a member where others from your country can help you. To find your SF go to the blue ribbon at the top of the page, select "forums" and then scroll 3/4 of the page down and look for your country or region.

Hello--my I129-F was approved on September 4, and I have not heard a peep since then. Does anyone know if this is a typical wait time? (I haven't read through this whole thread, so I apologize if this has been asked and answered multiple times).
