Spanish / American couples.... Advice needed!

Country: Spain
Timeline

There is a likelihood that me and my fiancee would like to marry in Spain (She is of course a native born Spaniard residing in Spain, who lives near Alicante), so her family could all be there for the wedding, and then apply for a CR-1 visa, so I can get her here to the States and we live full time with each other as husband and wife. I am an American living in the US, having met my fiancee online. I have not lived in Spain for any length of time, other than the 3 weeks of one week periods I've visited, so I have no residency to speak of in Spain.

So, is anyone here in the same situation, or has been in the same situation, that could give me some advice to make this go a little more smoothly? I know there are a few documents I need to get here stateside with Apostilles (Birth Certificate and Divorce Decree), plus I'll need to make an appointment with the embassy in Spain for other items, before we apply for permission to marry at the Civil Registry.

Surely, there's at least one other American here that has been in this same situation, and that experience would greatly help me out. Please speak up, and thank you in advance!
