Dear Friends, As you read at Visajourney, USCIS announced new fee schedule for I-485. We sent our AOS application on May 25th and I was reading about new rules and I am confusedplease help me to understand what that means? We didnt apply for EAD and AP, So according to new schedule do we have to apply for EAD and AP? or it says as I understood that people who will apply after July 30,2007 they will have to apply for EAD and AP in all once with I-485 AOS Application? here what article says:

Q. If an applicant files a Form I-485 to adjust status before the rule is effective, will he/she have to pay for future interim benefits?

A. Yes. An applicant for adjustment of status who applies before the fee rule becomes effective will continue to have to file separate applications with fees for employment and travel authorization. Those who file an adjustment of status application (Form I-485) after the new fee schedule is effective will not have to pay the additional fees for employment and travel authorization as these costs have been included in the new adjustment of status application fee.

If you file before July 30,2007 you do not have to file for EAD or AP. If you choose to file either of these or for a renewal you must pay the fee at the time of filing for these. With the new fees and after July 30th when you file to AOS you will be filing for EAD and AP at the same time. These two and any future filings of EAD or AP are included in the initial AOS fee.

i wonder if that means the EAD's and AP's only expire when AOS is approved. In some cases that would mean these items would be valid for years. too bad they cant take into consideration those of us who have already paid over a thousand into AOS due to their delays.

With the new system you don't have to pay for your renewals so if anyone would be so unfortunate to end up in your situation they might be able to save a little money. It is too bad that you couldn't switch over... but you won't have to file to renew your AOS or EAD again. Thank goodness eh...
