Hello

I recently got married in the USA and I am going to submit all of my documents this weekend. I am still under F1 visa status from school but I am planning to drop out of school where classes start next week. The last day to drop classes at full refund is August 30th.

I am wondering when is the latest opportunity I can drop courses so I do not have to pay the full semester expense. I don't want to harm my status until my documents get submitted.

Aug 30th. Assume you can do what you said which is submit the I-130/I-485/I-131/I-765 before. Best to  wait to have some sort of confirmation such as the check cashed, or the NOA1

There is no safe date, you become dependent on adjusting if you drop your status which is never a guarantee.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
