Hello,

I have a green card that i received based on my marriage to my husband, a US Citizen. I got CR1 visa and that was treated as green card when i entered the US in Dec 2014. Last feb 2018 i removed the conditions on my greencard which is now a 10 year green card.

I am 3 months short of 5 years eligibility although i am eligible to apply for citizenship right now under 3 year marriage to us citizen rule. BUT if i wait till september 15th then , i am eligible to apply under 5 year rule, thats the earliest filing date for 5 year eligibility.

My question is which is easier to get through? 3 year or 5 year ? I understand 3 year rule requires a lot of evidence that i have , tax returns etcetc. but its headache to gather them all , print , compile , mail, i have done that during green card process, i would like to avoid all that and just apply under 5 year rule except i dont know what they require under 5 year rule?

do they ask about job? right now i have barely started my own business , but it can be considered hobby at this point, will they ask about financial stuff and my job under this 5 yearl rule?

what do i need to be aware of about the interview if i decide apply under 5 year rule. thanks

Going by 5 year is better in terms of evidences required. They don’t care about whether you have job or not as long as you are a law abiding person.

awesome!

I am right now in between jobs. But we both are financially doing well, we inherited some money from his parents ,so we took break from having to work. Although recently i started a website where i do sell my art and i am pursuing that further.

So, what do they ask in the 5 year citizenship interview? any ideas?

i was worried that they want specifics of the job or financial support etc.

Is there any guide about interview process and preparation for 5 year eligibility?

5 years-  Read experience in this board about the interview experience.  You need to learn 100 questions, read and write ( I am sure you okay, since your are in this board) and if your record are clean, no special preparation is needed for N-400 interview.  In my view, it is the easiest process step of immigration journey.   Also apply online

My husband also did the 5 year rather than the 3 year. It was easy peasy and nothing to worry about.

3/2/18  E-filed N-400 under 5 year rule

3/26/18 Biometrics

7/2019-12/2019 (Yes, 16- 21 months) Estimated time to interview MSP office.
