K1 Visa in Riyadh

I would like to get some answers since I tried to email the US Embassy in Riyadh for some inquiry but they are not informative. It is frustrating on how the waiting time is and for unknown. The NVC forwarded our case on July 10, 2019 to the US Embassy in Riyadh. My Fiancee haven’t received the packet 3 yet but was advised to gather all the documents, complete the DS-160 and medical examination. So she contacted the Embassy thru mail and they advised to send the confirmation page of the DS-160 to them on August 6, 2019 and they will contact her once the appointment has been scheduled. But I have been reading some article that we should send the DS-160 confirmation page, photocopy of passport and 2pc photo. Now we are confuse if we have to wait cause we already sent it thru mail as advised by the person she was communicating with thru email or send it via courier.

When are we going to expect the contact from them for the interview? Will it take 2-3 months from the moment they received the case from NVC or 2-3 months from the time they received the confirmation page? This is sad cause she’s about to finish her contract this coming October 2019 and still doesn’t have the interview yet.

Please give us some insight on our case and to what to do.

Thank you! Hoping to get some reply from your experiences.

I answered you PM with the steps to take. Finish this also to have additional information as explained in my PM.

Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline OR your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine their Embassy. The country that should be used is the country where the interview will take place.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right-hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

Once you finish that then return and you will see a flag in your profile. Select it and see what wonderful information will open up for you.

Thanks

Due to the uncertainty in the timing, my then-fiancee transferred the case to her home country and completed processing there after her contract completed. We didn't want to risk her being put into AP or something and having no way to stay until completion of processing.

I see. It sucks not knowing the outcome of the processing here 😓

Let's be proactive here. I have posted some links below for you to start working on your documents and some of the steps that must be completed. And, one thing I found helpful is to spend my time researching on VJ. They have treasure trove of information but you have to be willing to give a try. To that end how about you also select your flag in your profile on the left column and see where it leads to.

Based from my experience these are the things I did and received during my K1 process in Riyadh...

  1. I never received any kind of snail mail from the U.S Embassy in Riyadh during the whole process except for the visa. However, my husband then-fiance received the Packet 3 through e-mail.
  2.  I gather all the documents listed on Packet 3 except for medical exam.
  3. Sends the DS-160 confirmation page, photocopy of passport, and 2 pcs photo as per U.S visa dimension requirement. All of which are stated in the Packet 3 instruction.
  4. I e-mail the embassy to confirm they have received my DS-160 etc...
  5. After 12 working days I received an interview appointment letter from the U.S. embassy through e-mail
  6. I did my medical exam immediately after I received interview appointment letter
  7. Went to the interview with the sealed medical exam result along with documents listed on P3. My visa was approved on the same day of the interview.
  8. 3 working days after my visa interview, I received my passport with a visa attached on it through SMSA courier.

I am not sure but I think once the petition is received by U.S embassy in Riyadh, they will e-mail the petitioner to notify the receipt of the case, the instruction and Packet 3 link. Again this is just per my experience.

It took approximately 4 weeks for when I send my DS-160 confirmation page along with the passport copy and photo to receiving my Visa through mail.

I hope this help lessen your anxiety.

Do you think it will be the same as my fiancee sent it thru email? Because this is what they respond to her when she asked what she’s going to do.

Thank you for sharing your experience as we have been looking for some answers cause we haven’t received the packet 3 yet.

I can't say for sure as it never happen to me. I just followed the instruction on P3 which is to mail. However, they instructed you otherwise, so maybe? For the photo and passport copy, I remember the person who did the first/screening interview at the embassy saw that I already submitted a 2x2 photo beforehand so he never asked for another one. So maybe, you're fine in that regard.

Did she already have the MRV fee receipt before sending the DS-160? I'm not sure if this info is important, but after paying, I received an email stating "receipt #... has been activated and you can now schedule the interview" In my case I payed the MRV Fee before sending the DS-16. I can only guess but if she haven't payed yet, maybe that's the reason why it's taking too long for your interview appointment.

Check all the link Greenbaum posted especially the P3 as it will help you. 😀

Yeah she already paid for the fee. When she was about to send the confirmation page thru courier she received that email I screenshot. That’s why she sent it thru email instead.
