Plastic in the environment concerns me more than climate change.

I ate at a local BBQ establishment the other night that has been here since 1935.

Everything was plastic and styrofoam. Think about how much non-biodegradable waste just that one restaurant generates

Bernie Sanders time and place was in 2016, but of course it was a rigged election back then for Hillary to be the candidate.

Really I can't believe he made it that far plus he is so far left

Biden has this wrapped to be the democratic nomination, only thing that can stop him is sickness or death.

Even if they somehow wean this country off of petroleum based fuels the petrochemical industry will still be just as robust if not more so to build a green society. No way can this country wean itself away from petroleum.

My thoughts exactly.  However, Bernie is saying his DOJ would prosecute the big bad oil companies out of existence, so I am curious how all the materials needed for this proposed "Green" society will be made.

I can't figure it out either. People can't be that stupid to think that oil companies only make fuels. Everything we eat or wear or even use in our day to day life relies on petrochemicals. Even anything having to do with building or use for a green economy will need the petrochemical industry. How do people think this stuff is made?  A magic wand?

Yes, in a “Green” utopia, everything is manufactured out of thin air, with no environmental issues caused by mining, or drilling, or manufacturing.  However, in Bernie’s world, the state would own all those means of production.  I just returned from my annual visit to Russia, I am amazed at the environmental issues created by socialism.

Well good luck to them.  A world without the petrochemicals is going to be a pretty nasty world to live in. I never been to Russia but have many times to Vietnam and a few other Socialist countries and hope Russia is not nearly so bad on the environmental front. 2 years ago Vietnam had destroyed their sea around them and anything harvested from that sea. Sad to see.

North of where I was at (Krasnoyarsk), there is a city called Norilsk where Ni/Pt mining is very big.  The environmental issues around that city are huge.  The fallout from the Ni smelters was so great that now it is economically viable to extract the Ni from the soil around the city.  In Krasnoyarsk they process the precious metals, and the processing plants are right in the residential neighborhoods.  Good old Soviet/socialist urban planning.

Those are some nasty people that don't care about their people. Then again they did destroy a huge part of their own population in order to control the citizenry.
