I need the stamp in my passport because that is the only thing the SSA (Soc. Secur.) accepts. The extension letter is good for nothing.

I have InfoPass appointment tomorrow morning and I was wondering what are the chances they will stamp my passport.

Should I say I lost the Extension letter? I am concerned that if they find out I have the extension letter, they will not stamp my passport. Any thoughts?

Why have you taken this long to file for an SSN? I think the SSN would help when filing a joint tax return.

K-1s can get one during the I-94 period, with EAD, and after getting the conditional green-card.

I have my SS card since long, that was the first thing I got at the time of my K-1.

What I need now is a replacement of the card to remove the restriction on it (Only authorized to work with DHS permission or something like that) because I may be changing jobs soon.

Your Expired Green-Card along with the extension letter constitutes "DHS authorization to work" if you do change jobs, just show them the expired green-card/extension letter, along with the SS card with the notation on it, you should have no problems.

When you do get your permanent 10 year Green-card, at that time go to the SSA office to get the notation removed.
