I have seen kids apply with their parents many times. It is basically the same process other than the passport they get will only be valid for 5 years I believe if memory serves. And if it expires again before they turn 16 or maybe 18, I'm not 100% for sure on the age, but i think 16, they are required to renew in person, when you are an adult and you get your first passport it is good for 10 years, and you can renew by mail the next time, and it is really easy when you renew.

 

As a side note, if they are US citizens already( I am assuming they are) they will need original certified copies of their birth certificates to submit, so make sure you have those also.

Okay thanks I know about the 5 years vs 10 years you are correct on that one. 

 

No, my boy is not a citizen he immigrated with me and also has a GC but he will be a citizen when I do (hopefully next year) he will be 14 at that time and want to apply for passport for him at the same time as me. I know he has to be present and have his own application and all that. 

But I'm glad it seems like it will not be any issue!
