Got two different Alien Numbers..

Hi guys! As I have posted here before, when I submitted my application for adjustment of status, I put N/A in the space asking for A# since I have no idea that it is written in my visa already. So dumb, i know, but I really didnt know that that was my alien number.

Well, now I got my NOA1 from the mail and the uscis gave me a new A#. So different from the one that was in my visa. Now, If any of you have the same situation or knowledge about this, can you share with me please?? Will this affect my application? Or my way of identification in the uscis system in the future??

Do I have to send the uscis a letter that states my original A# even if they didn't ask for it?? Just worried here guys coz if this would affect me in the future, I think it is better to correct this now while I could..

Thanks and good luck!!!

This is not a problem, many who do not know or understand the A# just file with out and USCIS just assigns another on to the case.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

sweetangeltheresa,

Many people find themselves with multiple A#s, expecially when they do not consistently supply the first one they were given (with the petition) when they make subsequent applications to the USCIS.

When the adjustment of status application is processed the multiple case files and associated A#s will be consolidated into a single case file and a single A# identifying the consolidated file will show up on the green card.
