Anyone from MO having trouble getting DL with REAL ID with the expired GC and the Extension letter??

I had no trouble in GA and got my DL extended with the REAL ID on my extension letter.

We have moved to MO and they refuse to give me REAL ID here because they say I can't give them an unexpired GC and they say they will not except the I-797.

MO rules for getting REAL ID: https://dor.mo.gov/drivers/real-id-information/documents/RID.pdf

I hate MO from this point of view. I thought it is not an issue to get a DL with extension letter, but it looks like it is.....

They are so ***** up. I had no DL until I got my EAD.... Now looks like when ROC comes I won't drive for a year?

Can you use your GA license? I know you suppose to change it when you move, but if they are not willing to... Maybe try to get an I-551 stamp?

You can get a DL with extension letter it’s a DL with REAL ID that I want.

MO is not the most immigrant friendly state I’ve noticed that for sure up here.

I have thought about the stamp but at the same time it kind of pisses me off with the extension letter so we will fight it as far as I can because they will give it to people who just give the the EAD card (unexpired) as proof of lawful status but the EAD card is not proof of status it’s like they are double standard with their own documentation.

I have gotten a temp temp DL paper to drive on and you can’t keep driving on the out of state one. Even had to give them that so they could count 18 months extension 🙄

This sort of happened to us.

In Texas it's on their website that even when applying for a GC that an I-797 was enough proof of having enough status in the US to get a drivers license, but the lady refused to accept it as a document. She kept saying you had to have an unexpired GC or EAD and that was it.
We showed her the print out of acceptable documents to show legal stay with the I-797 high lighted and she just kept saying she couldn't see that option on her computer. She said that there wasn't an option in the computer to add I-797 and that all she could do was input it as a I-551 (Green card) and hope for the best.

Glad you got it figured out!

Om the MO one it does say that they don't accept I797 Approval notice of action. But what on earth do the want people to do?

It also states that they also don't except the stamp in the passport I just saw so there is no way I can satisfy them for the REAL ID.

We only got it figured out by bringing the GC like they wanted.

Part of me wonders how much they say is "usable" for proof and then how often they play dumb and say they can't use proofs from the list provided by them.

I have the card but it is expired that is the problem. And it says in their list they don’t accept  the I-797 approval notice of action or the I-551 stamp in passport. So since the extension letter is stated as a I-797 they won’t accept it and since they wasn’t take the stamp either there is nothing I could satisfy them with.
