US customs paperwork

Hi,

I entered on a K1 visa last Friday and went through US customs at Newark, NJ. I was given back all the paperwork in the brown envelope. I have just read though on this forum that this should have been kept by the customs people? Is this correct, what should I do now?

Anyone else had this problem?

I came through on a land border, but I got nothing from that envelope. As far as I know it gets sent to your District Office.

I think it does need to go to the District Office, but I'm not sure how.

I'm sure someone on here will follow up on my post and help ya out.

They should have kept the envelope and sent it on.... I would make an infopass appointment and ask an USCIS officer what to do.....

You need to go back to the CBP POE that processed you and have them take the envelope back...

If the CBP post is far from you, you need to go to your closest CBP POE and get them to deal with the envelope... You may not have been processed correctly and therefore not properly "admitted". The USCIS cannot help you, you need to go to the CBP in this matter.

Thanks for the help,

USCIS was not very helpful however CBP straight away recognised the mistake.

I went to the airport earlier today and met someone from the INS PASS department who took all the paperwork this will now be forwarded the correct place.

Again many thanks for the help, much appreciated.
