Can anyone help us understand the process to enter the American workforce as a nurse, specifically dental surgery. My wife has 15 years of experience in the Ukraine and has a university degree. I’ve called local Indiana universities who won’t help because we are not students, I’ve called the CGFNS service but basically they are just taking your money and then handing information to the state board of health. I’ve been to the state board of health site but they do not tell foreign citizens what they need to do.

The state controls the licensing process.  Call the state board for the license in which she is seeking and ask again or ask for a higher level or someone else who can help. They can’t disxrimate and not provide the information to you based upon someone’s citizenship.

The truth is the person you spoke from the state probably doesn’t know the answer and you need to speak with someone else.

also, the application and the instructions with it probably have most of the info you need.

The big problem is that in the US, there are not, to my knowledge, "Dental Surgery Nurses." There are oral surgery assistants, who would work under a different state board than the nursing board. These assistants are not Registered Nurses (RN's), or Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN's) or Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVN's).
