Just wondering if anyone newly in America from a spanish speaking country wants to start a conversation meetup in Los Angeles with me.  I'm happy to spend time speaking with you and helping you learn conversational English, if you'd do the same for me in Spanish.  I'm from Canada, english is my first language, and I've been studying spanish for a few years now and I'm still terrible. They say immersion and conversation are the best ways to learn a language, so maybe we could help one another out. :)

Immersion is really the way to go. This is a great idea!  I hope you get a group going. Unfortunately, I'm on the East Coast and can't help.

As a tip, keep in mind we all have different accents and dialects in Spanish so if you get a lot of us together, you will learn how to say the same thing in multiple ways. Some words will have different meaning too... in Argentina, the word for jacket has a VERY different meaning in Mexico.

OMG good point.  I had to tell an employee at a spanish immersion school in Mexico who had learned spanish in Spain to find a new word for "to catch".  Mistakes like that are half the fun!
