USCIS sent a letter to our old address but we don't know what it is yet...could it be related to ROC?

So my husband and I are preparing to apply to remove conditions on his residency in September.  Due to my job, we've moved a few times since we got married in 2017, but have always notified USCIS of our change of address promptly and set up mail forwarding with USPS (they will forward mail for 6 months max).

Today, my husband had an email in his inbox from a stranger who apparently lives in our old apartment, where we haven't lived for over a year (so USPS is no longer forwarding our mail).   Apparently USCIS sent my husband a letter, and this gentleman was kind enough to track my husband down through his employer, and they're now figuring out how to get the letter to us.  I'm so thankful to this stranger, and also incredibly worried and upset - we did everything right in notifying USCIS of our new address and setting up mail forwarding, but if if weren't for this man's kindness, we would have no idea about the letter.

My husband is planning to call USCIS later today to confirm they have our current address.  I'm not sure if they'll ask him to fill out another change of address form online, but if they do, we will.  Does anyone have experience with this? Does USCIS accuse you of not informing them promptly? Like for instance if we put that we've been living at our current address for over a year, will we get in trouble even though we informed them as soon as we moved over a year ago?

My other question is about what the letter could possibly be - it might be a couple days before we're able to get it in our hands.  I've looked it up and it doesn't look like USCIS reminds you to apply for ROC...so what could it be?  Did anyone else receive a letter pretty soon before the ROC window opened?

It's probably just a reminder to file ROC.  Some people get them, while other do not..........

My experience from several years back is--

A ROC reminder goes out to the same address where the green card was mailed. Any change of address you made does not change that reminder. You don't need the letter.

It happened to us. Our new address with USCIS was correct. The reminders do no get the change.

This is such a relief, thanks to both of you!

I second this. Same thing happened to us. So no need to worry.
