Hi there,

For any Venezuelan who recently had a medical exam- now since all interviews are being conducted in Colombia, does the medical exam also have to be conducted in Colombia? If yes, anyone have advice on where to go, how long to wait for an appointment, how long it takes to get all the documents required there? For example- if my fiance goes to Colombia a few weeks before his interview, will it be enough time to get all his medical documents in time for the interview?

Thanks,
KT

Hi @Krissytis

If you fill out your timeline, that will give you access to a lot more information.  You'll be able to see other people who are in the process at the same time as you.

@Mexrik and @Indira/Charlys both have experience with the Bogata consulate.

@yulay1980 and @Rosy90 may be able to help as well.

I don't know the answer to the first part.

For your 2nd question, assuming you do have it in Colombia:

There are 2 parts.

1) First, you must schedule lab work. There is only 1 place that does this. We had this scheduled 1 week before our medical - it's just when they had time to schedule us. The lab work must be complete before you take the medical.

2) There are 4 doctors that do the medical. AFTER you have the interview date, call around and ask each one if they can fit you in, and when they will have the results. When you get the results *seems* to differ on how busy they are. Wisdom from the forum says a few days between the medical and interview, but if you call the offices, they can probably give you the estimate of when they will have the results.  My fiance just had her medical on Monday, and walked out with the results in her hand. (it was also a holiday on Monday, so the office was slow). Her interview was Tuesday 😁

Hola,

Wow! Thanks so much-- do you know where the place is for the lab results???  Also, is it a good idea to schedule before we have an interview date? I'm wondering to have my fiance go to Colombia sooner then later.

Get the interview date first. Then schedule the lab work. And then schedule the medical exam.

The medical examiner will want to see the page from CEAC that says 'ready for appointment'. Or the letter from the consulate that shows you have an interview date.

(There was actually a lady in the medical office who didn't have her paper, and they still let her do the medical... but I wouldn't count on that.)

Since we just went through this, it's all very fresh in my head.

The Bogota consulate page has information on the Doctors and Lab addresses / phone numbers.

Wow,

Thank you everyone so much!!!!!

After you get your case number from NVC it would be a good idea if you were to connect with the VJ sub forum for all things dealing with the US Embassy in Colombia and they will answer your questions for the processing of your visa from their personal experience. Link:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/96-mexico-latin-south-america/

Get the US Embassy Colombian K-1 Packet 3 (P3) at  https://drive.google.com/file/d/16Oeg4xYRja1hqUSzF-uEaj1QiyoFnv9X/view?usp=sharing as this is your bible needed to complete and receive your visa. The required documents are included and use the P3 as a check list. Once you have completed or gathered the required documents you'll be ready for your interview. If it is not on the Embassy letter, it probably is not needed.

Last but not least, READ the pages on the US Embassy website for your country so that you are up to speed.

https://co.usembassy.gov/visas/

One last place to check for information would be the VJ Wiki found here: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Special:AllPages and here http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Colombia&cty=Bogota

Ppl doing their vaccinations in Columbia can do them with anyone not connected to the approved medical center where  your exam will take place saving you a lot of money. Be sure to get a receipt that states every single vaccination that you received. See list below that are required vaccinations. Then during your medical present the receipt for the vaccinations to the Doctor and ask that they be transposed to the DS-3025 and marked COMPLETE! Very important that they are marked complete. You will use this document once you are married and filing your AOS package.

Good luck and God's speed.

Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline OR your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine their Embassy. The country that should be used is the country where the interview will take place.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right-hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

Once you finish that then return and you will see a flag in your profile. Select it and see what wonderful information will open up for you.

Thanks
