I will like to ask a question on behalf of a friend, he once married to a his fiancé in 2014  and they had a misunderstanding and they both separated 2016 but he didn’t filed for divorce, until now. But in the Ghanaian Customary law  you must indicate the date you separated in court or to the registerer. The question is should I  use the 2016 as the divorce date on the divorce certificate or the current date of registration for divorce certificate. Because I once told  immigration that we did divorce in 2016. Please help me, I don’t want immigration to say I lied to them. The hard is truth i sent a document there before in K1 that I divorce in 2016

This is a friend of yours, so why would you need to use their divorce date in any of your filings?

The answer is neither. Why would you need to use your friend’s divorce date ? Do you happen to have an exact “misunderstanding” and an exact divorce date as “your friend”?

Why are you starting out your posting as "I will like to ask a question on behalf of a friend." Then you proceed later in your posting to start mentioned "I" and "we"?  Whichever way it happened, I would suggest that you are truthful and consistent in the manner you present your case. Additionally, you list in your profile as IR-1/CR-1spousal visa, yet you post in the K1 fiancee visa forum? The truth will set you free, or it. could also hang you. B-)

Good luck.

So are you saying that the K-1 petition was filed before your divorce was final?

Sorry I have to bring I and we, but I mean him, am asking for him because. The divorce was not done properly but he didn’t notice until he submitted it to USCIS for K1 visa for his new fiancé  and it has being denied, because He ask  me to check in registerer office and I found it was fake but what am asking for him is can he still use the same divorce date because it is the original date for divorce and in the Ghanaian customary marriage per the law you divorce home before it is registered in the court. So my question is can he use the same date when he divorce home since he has told USCIS already about the divorce date which has already gone to their office.

No the Divorce was not original but the date on the fake one is original date they both separated home per customary marriage before it is send to court. He want to know weather to use the same date or use current date for the divorce certificate
