Everything I read prior to filing for the K1 said to not even have ANY APPEARANCE of even seeming to be married. They deny you simply for the reason alone - if it APPEARS you are already married. Why on EARTH would I think it was a good idea to co anything???

That is solid guidance, I would say it can be more significant depending on the Consulate/local practice.

If he didn’t interview well then I can understand that and move on. But this is just a general .. meh we don’t care.

Also, how am I supposed to move on and either apply again or go the CR1 without knowing what the issue was this time so that we can correct whatever needs to be corrected? How do I know we will not have the same issue next time?

Of of course I will make sure to better prepare him (and myself) for the interview. We will be sure to go over everything, but we thought we did that last time. Now I am somewhat afraid, discouraged to try again.

That is the sort of info that VJ is good for, I am not familiar with DR but know for example India/Pakistan it seems an issue with K1 and Marriages. Now I am pretty sure it would not be in London.

Marginally longer than a K1 and the K1 has many disadvantages. It would be a very rare situation where a K1 would be suggested now.

Why do you say that? Are K1’s being rejected more frequently now?

Not that I know of.

The biggest disadvantage of a K1 has always been  that if it is refused it is Game Over.  The petition goes back to the USCIS and by policy is not reviewed.  It dies.  You have wasted 6 months to a year.

A denied spousal Visa can be reaffirmed by USCIS and sent back to the consulate.  The consulate can not refuse it for the same reason.  A spousal Visa, in my eyes, is better because the petitioner must show bonafide proof of the marriage and enters into a legally enforceable contract with the Federal Government to support the beneficiary.
