I-130 got approved F2A

Hello my fellow visa journeymen-

 

F2A is current. NOA2 8/16/19. My son is turning 18 next week 8/22/19. Here is my question.

 

I understand he needs to 'seek to aquire' lpr within a year. Does this mean everything has to be wrapped up in a year or he has to take some kind of action in a year. Example: pay iv bill.

 

I am trying to drag it out as he is still in college.

 

Please advise. Thanks.

1) The age limit is under 21, not 18. So he's got years.

2) "Seek to acquire" would be satisfied once he starts his stuff at NVC. It does not refer to when the visa must be issued by, used, etc.

Thank you Geowrian. F2A became current in June, before I130 was approved on 8/16. Is it 'seek to aquire' from the June date or the August date. I've tried reading thru FAM- gives me a headache. Thanks.

Seek to acquire will start once both the PD is current and I-130 is ready. The PD being current before I-130 approval won't negatively impact it.
