yes i have letters also. thanks for reminding me. see how scatter brained this is making me?

thanks everyone.

You can also print out emails. If she sent you cards or you sent her cards, take them too - attach a sticky not onto it describing the occasion such as card for birthday ... and put the date on it. I had everything you can think of and when i went to my interview, they didn't ask for one single thing! I was kinda disappointedbecause I was a nervous wreck worrying that i didnt have enough evidence.

Step one: calm down.

Step two: assess advice - and that's all it is - and see what you think about it. Include what you want. Exclude what you want. One member offered his advice. You are free to take it or leave it - but not to freak out about it since YOU asked for advice!

I can't comment on concerns that may be faced by filers from high-fraud countries. I am dealing with a lower-fraud country. Different concerns arise at different Embassies around the world.

At this point, for WHATEVER reason given for not including evidence of financial support, the bottom line is YOU DON'T HAVE TO INCLUDE IT. It will do NOTHING to prove to USCIS what you need to prove. Save it for later, or leave it out entirely. It. Will. Not. Help. You. Get. Approved. At. This. Stage. Period. Full. Stop.

Not trying to be bitchy about this, but it's important to understand exactly WHY you would be including any particular piece of evidence. If it isn't included for a reason, then it shouldn't be included at all.

You need to prove:

1.) that you have met within the past 2 years in person

2.) that you intend to marry.

Past that, you're just stressing yourself out. Money transfers, phone bills, letters, all of these are immaterial to your proof as USCIS requires it.

Really, best advice is to remain calm, read as much as you can, educate yourself, and make your decisions as you will. Cutting and pasting in the guides isn't going to help you.

Good luck.

Wow. I would have to disagree about the phone bills not being bneficial. The guide clearly states that it is proof of an ongoing relationship. And even if they decide not to bother wih it, at least he had this as evidence. My immigration lawyer did my whole K-1 packet and he advised me of what to include for proof of relationship and ongoing relationship, and phone records were included. All I am saying is that it will not hurt anything.

I think its important to consider that the K-1 visa process is two-fold and the evidence to be presented at each stage is important for that stage of the process.

One is the USCIS where you are only required to prove two things:

1. That you met w/in two years before filing

2. That you both are free to marry and intend to do so.

At this stage, your evidence should be geared towards proving these two facts only. Given the massive volume of applications (all types, not just K-1) received at the various service centers, the adjudicators processing these applications are looking at the at the facts as they prove the case at hand. TimsDaisy is right....additional evidence will not help you at this stage. We cannot say for certain whether it will hurt....but definitely it will not help to prove 1 & 2 above, which is all you need to prove for the I-129F to be approved by USCIS.

The second stage, is at the consulate where the beneficiary presents "evidence" and is interviewed for the visa. This is where the proof of ongoing relationship is important....and depending on the consulate, it can make or break an application.

There are many ways to do things....and everyone offers advice. The OP can pick and choose what advice to follow. That said, the above is my opinion, and how I chose to view the process. So far it has worked, I'm approved at stage one of the game, working on stage two now. :)

OP, Good luck w/ your petition!

after i thought about it you're exactly right. no need to give anyone a reason to make it harder on us. i'm still going to send everything else, just no western union info. basically because i already have it printed. i got the letter for my fiance w/ her G-325A, passport photo, & letter of intent. but, i was'nt home so, i gotta go pick it up tommorrow at the post office. so, after i get it. i just have to organize everything & mail it. Pushbrk you helped a lot-you answered a ? i had about the G-325A the other day as well. people like yourself, & timsdaisy should get some kinda medal. it's great that you guys can give good advice & calm people down when we're stressin so much.

i'll be posting a timelime soon. thanks again!

Hey I saw all that was posted in this thread and I sent probably all of that info that you wanted to send but I made sure my fiancee had the exact orginals that I sent to them for her interview when that day comes. I think it proves how serious you are about taking care of your fiancee whether it helps or not who cares but I don't think it hurts, or I don't think they will throw it away. Good luck Also I have been to the Philippines 3 times since 6/23/06 and I sent them all 3 ticket stubs and receipts did I have to no but I did.

If someone remembers my posts they'll think I'm a broken record, because I always give the same advice

my favorite thread is the RFE masterlist http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=4725

you'll see what caused an RFE for others and you can double check your application so you don't make the same mistakes.

It's a little bit long, but there's some very good information there.

Good luck in your journey,

Saludos,

Caro

yah, im sending everything in the app. except the transfers. i think pushbrk is right- don't giv'em a reason- and like everyone else is saying " i don't need to show support yet ". i will keep the transfer receits & everything else to send my fiance after the I-129F is approved. im gonna go ahead & contact the irs for my tax records. thats the only thing i see me really stessed about once round 2 starts. i'm gonna check the site to see how to, but if anyone reads this & knows. please let me know.

My best advice... just read the instructions on the forms, and submit whatever it asks for. I sent in the basics with my I-129F, nothing crazy, and no RFE's... smooth sailing. This has been the easiest process ever. I think applying for my university was harder. I never sent my fiancee's birth certificates with the G-325's. I even sent them a ghetto enlargement of my own birth certificate that I scanned on my home scanner and printed it out. As long as everything is in order, you supplied them with all the right forms that they asked for, and nothing looks suspicious... you're just fine! These folks look at forms 24/7... you give them something new to look at... it might bother their normal routine, and say hmm whats this? Get my drift? Relax... and relax.. and relax.. thats the best advice.

I suggest just checking your forms twice, relaxing (proved my point?)... and just sit back for the ride. :)

PS. this site has a pretty good guide on what to include, and some good advice other than relaxing is to just follow the guide. It's like following a "K-1 Visa For Dummies" book.

Of course you follow the form directions. Which ask for proof of meeting and a declaration of intent to marry. It doesn't take a boat load of evidence to prove either.

It does, however, take more evidence to prove the validity of the relationship at some consulates than others. So why do you care about what the consulate official will see when preparing a package for a stateside adjudicating officer?

Because at most consulates, the beneficiary (often interviewing alone without their stateside partner) gets about 10 minutes with the CO. But the file has been viewed by that CO prior to that 10 minutes. At high-fraud posts, setting the stage for the interview can only be in the couples best interest.

A 'snapshot' of the relationship prior to the interview can prepare the CO's mindset and set the tone of the interview. Fruad beneficiaries typically have little physical evidence to prove the relationship - after all there really isn't one. So sending a small quantity of well-chosen evidence of a TWO-SIDED relationship helps the CO 'believe' in the bonafide nature of the relationship before the beneficiary is seen by them. It will then be the CO's job to query the beneficiary - to gauge not only by the answers to questions but also by body language and the like - whether or not the beneficiary is the true half of the relationship presented in the file.

This is very well stated. I do think the procedures for viewing the case files prior to interview will vary from one Consulate to the next. Cases are reviewed through the process by multiple people. Sometimes the officer doing the interview has very little time to view the case before hand but they are very experienced at sizing up cases quickly and have the benefit of any notes made by others who saw the file over the course of the process.

For Guangzhou, I'm convinced that the pre-interview case review process flags and categorizes the cases, so that the interviews are very targeted. Some interview reports give the impression that ether approval or denial was pretty much a foregone conclusion but others have long interviews before success.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
Understanding the big picture is priceless. Anonymous

OK i've got another issue now. go figure!! i just got the paperwork back from my fiance. i don't know if the passport photo will work. i told her a paasport style photo 2" x 2". she sent me a photo measuring. 1-3/8" x 1 3/4" the exact size of my photo on my passport. in the instructions for form I-129F it says passport style photo w/ no dimensions. the state dept. website recommends 2" x 2". do you think i'm ok?

1.) They ask for a specific photo size, they want a specific photo size. American passport photos seem bigger than anyone else's. But you have what you have, so send it in. I don't recall if I've seen someone get dinged for the wrong sized photo or not. Check the "RFE" thread at the top of this forum for pitfalls encountered by other VJers.

2.) You have a LONG wait until you get to the financial document stage. And don't contact the IRS yet until you know if you even need to. The I-134 instructions tell you what you need. Read them. Self-employed people need tax returns. But others don't. You may wish to have them just in case, but again, read, read, read.

it just keeps getting worse. after i looked everything over again.....she only signed her first name :( . i'm gonna type her form G-325A & send it to her tomorrow. its only a month longer  but, what else can i do?

Are you certain that is not her legal signature? If you look at my signature you would be hard pressed to tell if I signed my first name, my last name or something completely off the wall.....

YMMV

Check with her first...maybe that's just the way she signs her name.

Deep breaths...you will get through this :)
