Good news and.... well, "interesting" news!

I just got my interview scheduled today!! And the date is October 8th!! (Los Angeles Office)

So, it's SUPER CLOSE, less than 2 weeks

But the letter then says: "However, if you are ill, have any symptoms of illness, have traveled outside the United States within the past two weeks or had contact with a person who tested positive for COVID-19 within the past two weeks, or are at heightened risk due to age or an underlying health condition, call the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Contact Center at 1-800-375-5283 (TTY 1-800-767-1833) as soon as possible to reschedule your appointment. There is no penalty for requesting that your appointment be rescheduled.

Well, surprise, surprise, I got the letter a few hours after I crossed the border to Mexico. (As I am in So Cal, so it's literally a quick day trip 1hr from our home. Very common thing. They don't even stamp the passports here on the way back)

I'll technically come back to US 12 days before the interview.

But my dilemma now is - should I call to reschedule or not?

Please let me know your thoughts.

To answer your question, I might err on the side of caution and just reschedule. If you do, I'm sure the date wouldn't be that much further out from your current date!

Also, can I ask if you are in the downtown LA office or Chatsworth office? (I think both technically say LA.)

We are downtown LA and have been waiting for an interview notice forever!

Thanks for your advice.

I called them, today. I gotta say that USCIS customer support is pretty awesome.

They advised that, considering the date/nature of my trip, it's still enough time before the interview, and I shouldn't reschedule if I feel healthy.

My interview will be in Downtown LA.

Fingers crossed you get your date soon!

That's great news!! So glad to hear they are being reasonable about everything. Makes perfect sense to me!

Also, thank you for sharing about your location! We have been waiting forever to see some movement in DTLA! Also, if I could ask one more thing, did you happen to apply in early or late September? We applied September 25th last year, so hopefully that date is coming up soon!

Good luck in your interview!

Same here - though I suppose it's a good thing that the estimated completion date hasn't slipped any further in Seattle.

Weird, I'm not seeing that on my end yet, and IIRC I applied a week or two before you, in mid-September 2019. Hopefully there'll be movement on my end soon then.

EDIT: I just checked and I see mine too now, I'm on 23 days. Hope that's accurate!

The interview went very well! I’m now a US citizen.

Here’s a quick overview: I arrived 15mins before my appointment. The waiting room had around 20 people, all socially distant. I waited for approx 2 hours before my name was called.

The interview was 15mins and at the end the officer rushed me into another room to do the oath. Once there, waited another 1.5hrs. Done!

Registered to vote that night!

Good luck!
