Hi all, just updating my case for future reference.

N-400 submitted 9/26/2019

Notice of receipt/payment 9/26/2019

Notice of Biometrics appointment 9/27/2019

Notice of Biometric appointment letter 10/01/2019 (Scheduled for 10/18/2019 at the Salt Lake City Utah office)

Biometric Walk-in 10/02/2019 (I'm traveling on the 18th so I went in and asked the guard if I we could be seen today. Guard was really nice and went to ask the biometrics person. They said they could see us, but we would have to wait a little bit. It was a 45 minute wait. We got number 36 and they were processing number 28 when we got seated. There was a 15 minute break after number 34. Then number 35 was called and then it was our turn. It all took about 3 minutes to get the fingerprints and picture. The biometrics personnel as well as the guards were so nice. Everybody made us feel welcome and very understanding that I had to travel (I am not the applicant, this is for my mom, but I translate for her and drive her around), and even asked me about my travel plans, etc. Very friendly.

Based on personal experience--from when I applied for my own citizenship back in 2007, it takes 4-6 months from here, to get an interview. Then another 4-6 months for the oath ceremony. It was about 12 months back in 2007 and the estimated time for my mom is October 2020, so 13 months sounds about right.

Hope this info is helpful to all of you!

I submitted mine on Monday night. At the moment the status has a message about running a background check. Is that normal? Or have I been singled out? Will my husband's criminal record have any impact on my application? He committed his crime long before we even met.

It was a serious question. Living with a person with a felony has added complications in many aspects. I was questioned about it when I had my IR-1 embassy interview. I have been denied many things because of his record. Rejected by apartment complexes, it restricts where we can travel to, we can't have a gun in the house (not saying I want one but it's interesting that even I can't own a gun despite the 2nd amendment giving me the right to bear arms...). So I would not be surprised if it causes an added complication in this process also.

Are you applying based off the 3 or 5 years rule?

I get your struggle but USCIS doesn't operate like that so long marriage was entered in good faith and you have not been an accomplice to any crime.

You will be fine it is not a ground for denial.

Both my estimated time of completion and my estimated wait time says 7 months. It is kinda confusing. It can't be the same. Does anyone has the same time for both?

Just checked here and our estimated completion time is 8 months, while the estimated wait time is 7 months.

Hi

I’m in the same situation as my husband has a felony and I’m also concerned if it will affect the application as I want to apply for the I - 129F as people are saying it will speed things up with the I 130 but the I 129F asks questions about the criminal record so not sure if we should even apply for the i129F of just leave it, and let the process take its course, as I’m afraid if I do it may upset the I 130. Any thoughts?

Hi all,

I guess I am lucky in Buffalo, NY.  I filed my N-400 online on Sept. 11.  Estimated completion was December 2019.  I did my biometrics on Oct. 2.  On Oct. 4 my interview was scheduled for Nov. 12.  Time to start studying!

Good luck everyone!
